  • I'll be sure to post pics of those same Zimmermans fitted to mine later this week, just to tempt you even further

  • You will be fine then. It's a cautionary warning that's all, doesn't happen all the time but can. If it had gone wrong you would know about it.

Just pump the brake pedal but only go half way down, should be fine and yes the brakes fit under those wheels.

Hi there, im new to all this so 1st of all, hello to everyone.

Quick question just had my fabia vrs re-mapped, now thinking bigger brakes, these 312mm brake, do they fit straight on with the original calipers or do the calipers need modding?

Here is a comparrison between the std 288mm brakes and the 312mm and its clear why you cant just use the carriers on the old calipers.

Ref post 1.

Truly amazing guide:thumbup:

Do you have any recommendation on where to buy cheap 312mm caliper carriers?

I am looking to fit those 312 discs to my octy elegance 1.8t with 288mm ones.

Cheers

Carriers are tricky, they dont often come up on their own but Steves kits are that well priced it would be worth getting the whole lot as the discs cost a fair bit anyhow.

Can anyone help. Will this 7mm allen key head be long enough to to get in and undo the 7mm bolts ????????????

should be ok , but the more worn the pads are , the longer the 7mm tip needs to be , so if the pads are well worn you may struggle to get the socket into the rubber boot

cheers. pads are half worn, but getting replaced. so should be good. only really need that 7mm socket for doing it up to the correct torque setting.

great tutorial this mate thanks

What's the gap like between the calipers and the standard wheels?

Some of the balancing weights are quite chunky!

It is close so be careful.

Get my 312's and a pressure bleeder next week.

The guide is excellent. All that remains is; can someone advise the tightening torque for the 18mm carrier bolts and the 7mm allen key sliders?

Thanks.

What have you done with the abs sensor?

What have you done with the abs sensor?

Nothing, why?

Do you just tie them up out of the way? as no abs sensor on the 312's

  • Author

Are you confusing the ABS sensor with the pad warning sensor?

Are you confusing the ABS sensor with the pad warning sensor?

No, just looked at the calipers that Ive just picked up and there seems to be no place to plug the abs sensor in.

  • Author

The ABS doesnt plug into the calipers on any brake system.

Circled red on the standard caliper. Where does it go

  • Author

There isnt anything there.

Ahhh the ABS sensor goes on the hub

  • Author

Yep.
