Cab flooding

Featured Replies

Took our 8 week old Yeti back to Lookers Newcastle on Wednesday as the passenger footwell was full of water. As no report was forthcoming I rang the service department to be told they didn't know where it was coming from, but not the air con, it doesn't have a panoramic roof.

It is suggested that the whole dash may have to come out to investigate as well as the interior to dry out. This seems to leave it open to taking a long time. Do we have any right to another car in the meantime or is this a curtaisy. We bought the car from them used with 11 mile on the clock.

Rather than used sounds more like a pre-registered car to me. Who's down as the first owner in the log book?

But whatever, it's a warranty job, and particularly at that mileage when bought a loan car should be forthcoming.

Doesn't matter how many owners it has had, if it is in for warranty work then they should offer you a loan car.

Please no... I feel your pain. Having had two VAG cars that suffered horrendous water ingress in the past, a Fabia Estate and Mk1 Leon, I do not want my Yeti to go the same way. The whole interior had to come out of my Leon twice to dry out as the under-carpet sound insulation was hard rubber on top of absorbent material  and no amount of sucking with the wet vac would clear it from under the carpet.

Good luck getting it sorted. The issue then, pre-2004 I think, was VAG used dodgy sealant in the inner door panels that degraded over time, allowing water in.

An update, we agreed with the service dept. that they could keep the car for a week for investigation as we went on holiday. Today we collected a Kia car from them for a week ( no charges) as they have not been able to trace the fault yet. It is now anticipated that the dash will have to come out but they need permission from Skoda HQ first. Certainly takes the shine from that new car feeling.

Reject it,you've bought a duffer ,god knows what damage may have been done with that amount of water running thro the electrics

Rang Lookers to check on progress and was told that they had traced the leak to the air con outlet (I had told the service agent that the water was originating from that area but he had failed to pass that detail on) after spending days spraying water on the screen, once they actually looked the connection from the air con to outlet pipe cracked. So hopefully all fixed and dried out, soon find out if it starts misting the screen.
