Anyone weighed the vRS??

Featured Replies

Just wondering what it really weighs..... the brochure says 1315kg with 3 passengers and average load. 3 of me is 255kg, so how much does the vRS really weigh???

Hmm. That's a bit ambiguous. Do they mean driver + 3 passengers (total 4 people) or 3 people in the car?

The exact wording is "carrying average load and three passengers" I assume one of those is the driver..... or maybe not.....

I thought 1300kg (ish) was the "kerb weight" - i.e no passengers?

I plan to take mine to a local scrappy to get it weighed on the weighbridge, with me sat in it, to see what it usually weighs on average. :)

It does say kerb weight 1315kg but at the top of the page it says "Fugures are for vehicle carrying average load and three passengers" I have the brochure right in front of me.... although i must say the Fabia brochure is on of the worst brochures i have every read. :thumbdwn:

Yeah I think it is, sounds about right 1300kg - my zetecs fiesta on its own weighed 1035 and that had a tiny all aluminium engine

I would think that means driver plus 3 passengers. So 4 people. That would make the 0-62mph time about right at 9.6secs.

is this standard procedure for all manufacturers? Im guessing it is?

Can you not just check the plate under the bonnet? Weights are listed there for the car and towing capacities (although these are the same as the car's weight on the Fabia vRS) iirc.

Alternatively take it up to your local weighbridge :)

Definition of Kerb Weight on the web :Unladen weight, ie empty vehicle (assuming it is standard with no extras) plus full fuel plus 75 kg driver.

Do the Czechs not know this? 1,315kgs is the kerb weight for the vRS Fabia.

1,315kgs is the kerb weight for the vRS Fabia.

Mine must weigh about 2000 kg then, 'cos the W.O. says I have got a big head!

Well, my right foot is so heavy, mine must be nicely over 2 ton.

Its currently lighter by one driveshaft now.

I assume that the reference to carrying passengers refers to performance / economy etc NOT the kerb weight - probably just lousy layout of the brochure. :)

That was my understanding too, as there isn't much point in quoting the kerb weight of a car fully loaded, whereas it makes sense to quantify the conditions for economy and performance :D

The kerb weight is also only a guide as it will also be dependent on what options the car is fitted with too...

The Furby is heavier than advertised in my experience. At my old workplace we had a weighbridge and my furby weighed in at 1330kg with me in it and a box of the usual work stuff in the back (so, a total load of say 80kg?). That would mean the kerb weight unladen would be 1250kg . . . . well, the reckon mine is 1270kg according to Skoda, which apparantly is with 3 passengers and luggage.

Mine's the 1.9tdi comfort, which is about 50kg or so lighter than a vRS, so I would say a vRS is at least 1300kg kerb unladen.
