1.6 TDI Greenline performance

Well, I'm impressed. I didn't test drive my car, in fact I didn't even go to see one (I've done that with my last 4 cars in the budget to mid range and I firmly believe you can't buy a "bad" car these days) but it can pick up it's skirts for such a sizeable beast. I was concerned that whilst it would be lacklustre, if would be sufficient but no more. Actually I'm quite pleased with it

I work 18 miles from home; the journey normally takes 30 mins on a weekday and 25mins on the occasional Sat that I work. I got into work this morning and discovered that I have put the Superb key on the wrong keys and that I didn't have the business keys with me. It's now 08.35am and we should open at 09.00am.

In my previous 2 jobs the government has spent a lot of money on me teaching me how to drive safely and progressively, so off I trot to home and back. Arriving back at work with the correct keys :dull: at 09.15am which I was pleased with.

I'm convinced that the "sport" mode is an utter gimmick, but was pleased with the mpg which was calculated by the computer (they lie!) at 52 mpg and I normally do the journey at 63mpg.

I've recently changed from the 1.6tdi passat and could average 72mpg sat at an indicated 75 on motorway journeys to work (if you believe the trip computer).  However coming home was a different story as I had the climb back up the pennines and i generally averaged low 50's.

Doing the same journey in the 2.0 tdi Superb I'm averaging around 65mpg in both directions which is a bit strange.  I assume the bigger engine has less trouble climbing back up the pennines than the 1.6 so is using less fuel!
