Coolant temperature light

Featured Replies

This is probably me just being stupid but on every cold morning without fail, I start my vRS and set off to work. I keep the revs low and usually dont exceed 1500 rpm while I wait for the temperature to rise (I do this whenever the engine is cold out of habit). However after around 5 minutes of driving when the temperature gets up to around 60 degrees C, I hear three beeps and the red coolant temperature light begins to flash. If I swotch thr engine off and back on again there and then the light does not show again. Any ideas?

It's the sensor in the expansion tank that's corroded. The sensor is built into the tank but it's cheap and a easy change.

@HWolfy - as @stevobeavo says; it's a very common fault to occur on mk1 Furbies and Octys from about now through Christmas.

I'll ask my garage for a price. Thank you both

@HWolfy - You're welcome. As to price, if it's more than part + 30 minutes labour you're being overcharged.
