Testing alarm

Featured Replies

Rather than locking the doors while sat inside and waving arms about like a lunatic is there a way of triggering the alarm (without putting a brick thru the window) using the Kessy Key?

I set the alarm off on a showroom Superb that was (accidentally) locked just by trying to open the front passenger door.

Interesting. I assumed it was deadlocked but I'll try that.

No that didn't work - the doors are deadlocked.

How about:

1. Open a window so you can reach in to the door handle

2. Use the key fob to lock the door by pressing the lock button twice thus ensuring it is not deadlocked

3. Reach in and open the door from inside - I am assuming Kessy won't let you lock it if the key is detected in the car.

I forgot to close the window once, and when I came back i put my hand through the open window, and that was enough to trigger the alarm ;)

All good suggestions so far.

The trouble is that the Kessy closes all the windows when you lock the doors LOL at least it does on mine (MY2018 L&K). I think I can switch that off in the car settings so will retry the hand through the open window suggestions. On my old Saab Aero to test the alarm I only had to press and hold a button on the keyfob and it would set it off.

This has all been prompted by me hearing a car alarm going off fairly close by. I didn't recognize it and thought it might have been my car. The CCTV didn't show it flashing any lights whilst the alarm was still sounding so ruled it out. Then I suddenly thought "what does the Superb alarm sound like?". It's no big deal so thanks to everyone who has made suggestions.

Lock someone in and then get them to move ;-) Which was your own suggestion I know and I'd hope that would set off the alarm.

The alarm is also on its own battery - as I discovered recently after the main car battery failed and triggered the alarm at 04:00!

Unlock the door with the key that comes with messy and open the door. If the non least systems are anything to go by the alarm should go off around 45 seconds later, as long as you don't start the car.

I didn't think a VAG car could be opened with a key unless it hadn't been deadlocked, and Kessy will deadlock by default. As will pressing the key fob button once to lock.

It does not matter about the deadlocks, it does it by default. If the fob battery was too low the kessy would not work and you would have to open by the key anyway (If not near the spare key), so you would have to be able to disable the deadlocks with the key.
