Autoglym lifeshine?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I've been offered this treatment by the dealer before taking delivery of my fabia vRS. It consists of Paintwork protection, upholstery protection, glass treatment and glass protection, apparently it takes about 5 hours and costs

there is a similar thread on here which I found when offered the same thing, basically the full kit for a DIY application is available on ebay for about £25, so paying stealer £225 for washing your car! Wouldn't imagine any "guarentees" of keeping car clean for 10 years are worth the paper etc. Will probably go the ebay route myself if only for seat protection, but believe you have to be carefull to avoid the interior plastics on application. As for the outside, after reading the various detailing guides - pollished bliss etc- I suppose it depends wether in future you want to use natural wax or a synthetic compound.

vRS in 7/9 weeks

IMHO it's a waste of money, similar to Diamondbrite applied by dealers.

It's just a way of them getting another pocket full of cash from you when you buy a new car.

You'd be better taking some of that £250 and buying some decent detailing products that will last you years and beat the pants off anything Autoglym has to offer.

www.zymol.com is a good place to start.

I picked my car up from Simpsons in Colne with the Autoglym Lifeshine done.

Initially I thought wow it looks like a spanking new super shiny car ! (cos it was)

Then I thought, maybe I wasted the money and should have done it myself, (bought the kit from ebay).

There's lots they do that the kit on ebay does not do. Since the car has now been a little dirty and I have had to clean it, the dirt and salt does not stick to the car like it would normally. The seats and carpets clean so easily.

Whatever that is sprayed onto the mats is superb. I went to my Uncles and his driveway was covered in sand, needless to say it was all in the car as well !

I took the mats out and shook them and they looked as good as hoovered.

The kit you get supplied as well is great and if I was to COMPLETELY Lifeshine someones new car (interior as well) it would take some time and I would charge them a fair few pennies for the job as well.

More importantly, I would wholehartedly recommend the treatment.

Like I said I researched the subject on this forum. The kit on ebay is stated to be the same used by the stealers (multiple listings) and as been used by people om here, true you don't get the fancy bag with the products to continue cleaning your car with (this looks similar to the freebie offered with some mag subscriptions from time to time?) and to steal some one elses line from another thread why do they provide you with extra botlles of polish etc if it is guarenteed for 10 years? answer because the car gets dirty and eventually any products applied will wear off (and in less than 10 years I bet. Again it is down to your personnel choice, if you are happy to spend this money on having a new car ' waxed ' then go ahead I personally will be quite happy to spend the time to do it myself with products I want to use after research on the various guides quoted on here and yes I might also have an initial outlay of a couple hundred pounds, but i wopuld expect the products to last a while. A lot boils down to how much time you are willing to spend looking after your new car, and wether you think that after 12 months of driving you believe you willbe able to just 'chuck a bucket of water' over it to make it look like new and still be protected from grime.

Cheers for the input guys.

I was of the opinion that

Well,

I'm over the moon with my Zymol products (that I use over the summer months and when I take my car to shows). However at this time of year, I simply use Meguiars NXT Spray Wax... Takes about 30 minutes to do the car after you've washed and dried it, and it protects the car well from all the muck on the roads, and it costs less than a tenner.

Below is what I use when preparing my car for shows:

Zymol products I use:

Premium Auto Wash = £10

Lehm Klay = £22.50

2x Vale Schpritzer Bottles = £8

HD Clense = £22.50

Pre-Wax Applicator 2pk = £6.50

Titanium Glaze = £65

Microwipe 2pk = £17

Premium Leather Cleaner = £10

In addition to the above, I use:

B&Q Big Orange Bucket = £5?

Meguiars Lambswool Wash Mit = £15?

Autoglym Glass Polish = £6?

Pack of Microfibre Cloths from the Market = £5?

Wonder Wheels = £10?

Meguiars Endurance Tyre Gel = £10?

VAX AAA Carpet and Upholstry Cleaner = £10?

VAX Spot Scrubber Wet Vac = £55?

Quantum Interior Plastic Cleaner = £5?

Total: £282.50

This stuff lasts for a long time and really does make a car look amazing.

I personally think it's worth spending the above on my 12k car.
