Both Rear Springs Snapped - Which Ones Are OE Spec

Featured Replies

So my Octavia VRS (2002 hatchback) failed it's MOT yesterday for having both rear springs snapped. The car is on standard springs and I'm looking for standard replacements. Having done a little research I'm concerned I'll end up with springs of the wrong weight, i.e. mk4 Golf springs. Can anyone recommend which springs are a like for like replacement for the standard equipment?

I have had a quick search through the forums but I'm unable to find a conclusive answer.

Any advice appreciated!

Eurocarparts/carparts4less sell Sachs springs.

I've fitted the fronts and they are fine - I'd have no worries fitting the rears. Maybe worth putting in the details for a Golf/Bora/Leon/A3 to see if the part numbers are different. You could also look for the Sachs online parts catalogue.

I would be inclined to go for OEM rear springs from a Skoda dealer, not the cheapest way but you know it works.

Part Number is...... 1J0 - 511 - 115AA  (coil spring RS) (Info EKTA)

Colour Code........ 1 Silver paint mark with 3 Blue paint marks  (Info EKTA)

NB: If you plan to do towing there are different part numbers and colour codes for the rear springs.

Thank you both, great advice/info.

Fortunately a friend of a friend had a used spare set of all four springs which are now in my possession, I know they could also fail at any time but as they're easy to change I figure it's no big deal and for £20 it's worth a punt!

Thanks again for the colour code info as it enabled me to confirm these are the correct springs.
