Front door controllers replacement issue

Recommended Posts

Hello,

First of all I would like to thank langers2k for all the help with MK70 -> MK60EC1 swap.

Recently I started retrofitting my Octavia 2 FL, 2011. I added Cruise Control, Fog lights, DRL.

My major issue now is the front windows, the right one gave up working (could not lift the window, it took me more than 3-4 tries to be able to fully lift the window) and recently the left one is working randomly (lift/no lift, down/no down, I was at it's mercy). My car is LHD.

The old controllers were:

The Controller ids: driver: 5K0 959 793, pass: 5K0 959 792

Now, since I intend to retrofit electrically folded mirrors I have found two used modules from a Golf 6, controllers + motors : 5K0 959 701 E (controller:5K0 959 793 A) and  5K0 959 702 E(controller:5K0 959 792 A)

The only difference between the two controllers is letter A at the end and new firmware version (2123 instead of 2119). Don't know if it matters but I also changed my BCM to a highend one:

I fitted them and codded with VCDS, all works except the auto lift/down feature:

I did all kinds of settings I found on this forum to make them remember the limits, but is not working. Actually it works only for down but only once, after that they stop working. It's like they're not remembering the values.

From remote I can only pull windows down but not up.

If I use the key in the door contact I can do both, pull down/lift up.

Any help is kindly appreciated.

First time only the auto down worked only once. Now I managed to find a way to make them both work only once :D

I was using Advanced Measuring Values to look at the actual values and I fund out:

1. Lift, hold down 5 sec... End limits learned

2. Down all way ( no auto)... End limits learned

3. Auto lift (works) ... End limits learned

4. Auto down (works) ... At top - (limits are lost, but here I'm a bit confused because it says At Top instead At Bottom)

So, it works one full auto up/down after that the limits are lost.

OK.

After lots of research, help from langers2k and a friend of his who was kind enough to dump the hex files for two controllers used on skoda I was able to fix my issue.

Initially my controlles were used on a Golf and had software installed for Golf which did not worked on Octavia, like our Russian friend said all I had to do was to write EEPROM with data for Octavia.

I only had ODIS available, but since ODIS is not able to flash hex file I had to write it manually, 3 bytes at a time. It was kind of suicidal mission, but if you pay attention and double check every memory cell you write then everything should be fine.

Now both my front windows work as expected. I also install rear electric windows.

Happy 4 electric windows user. :)

I'm guessing it is the files from my car he sent you

Glad you got it working

I've used 2 Golf controllers with altered data for my electric folding mirror. The only problem is that both mirror could not adjust simoutanously. I was told that the controller and the window motor should be paired, or it will has issues. Haven't decided if I should buy a pair of OEM motors and controllers as they are costly.

From what I experienced, the motors do have an impact. Like I said, I only used controllers because my motors were both working fine.

But after writing EEPROM with Octavia data I did experiment with golf motors I found out that they work a bit faster and the window is not going all the way down (it stops approx 2 inches from the bottom). I haven't fitted electric mirrors yet so I don't know about that.

Hi Eddie,

Thanks again for files you sent me, but I have an issue. Because the files are from a RHD the up-down is reversed, same left-right. My car is a LHD, so when I want to adjust mirror up it will go down. That didn't bother me until I installed mirror down on passenger mirror. Instead of going down-left is going up-right.

Is there any chance you may have hex files for front door controllers for a LHD car?

Thanks,

Irinel
