EPC light & error start stop system?

Featured Replies

Hi folks

coming home from work in my petrol 63 plate vRS & got the EPC light on the speedo with error start stop system, the car was very jerky & juddering so I reset the ignition via the key & deactivated start stop via the button but everytime I go press start stop button I get this message on the maxi-dot.

Also SOC is showing 70% I have a AGM battery charger, do you think I need to charge the battery?

Can anyone shed a little knowledge to why this is happening please

 thanks

Don't suppose you have access to VCDS or OBDEleven? Fault codes will be some help in trying to diagnose.

My car broke down a few weeks ago (also a 63 TSI) with juddering and EPC light. No issues with stop/start though. Oddly, after being left all weekend no issue was found by the dealer and it started working again as normal.

ahenners I’ve got access to OBDEleven so I can try that for any fault codes, the car does seem down on power when you try to floor it a little & seems very bumpy, or jerky feeling!

Also noticed my left inside boot light is not working too? Changed the bulb but not coming on but the right side in the boot works? Very strange things are going on :(

Our work cars have a run stop feature and do all sorts of things with electrics getting a little confused . We normally have the recovery agents out who disconnect one of the battery terminals for a minute reconnect and away they go. May be worth a go.

sorted the rear inside boot light, just unplugged the plug & re-connected, now I have light again :) connected OBDEleven & no fault codes found? strange! took the car for a quick spin but still feels hesitant when laying down power, wondering if its the diverter valve playing up?

Forgot to mention: when taking the car for a spin, it seems to feel hesitant or like its holding back only when you press the throttle pedal easy or half throttle it (like driving normal) if you floor the throttle pedal then its seems fine ok but when you half throttle there is like juddering/jerking & you can feel it within the car? like its holding back & you get this kangarooing? only way to stop this is to not be easy with the throttle pedal!

Has anyone had this on their 2.0TSI? Could it be a coil pack failing or a spark plug? maybe dodge DV.

Cheers

Update:

Problem now sorted! Coil pack was the issue.

Glad you managed to get sorted. What was the damage for the coil pack?

I think it was around £35.00 inc vat (genuine part)

That's not bad at all, was expecting worse!
