Lumbar support feels awkward

Featured Replies

So, I test drove a mk2 Superb and it was an amazing car.. except the lumbar support felt awkward no matter how I adjusted it (the seat was manual/non-electric). It felt like there's a "bumb" putting sharp pressure on my back, and by adjusting/decreasing the lumbar support the discomfortable location just moved a little. I had the same issue on my friends mk2 octavia, so I don't believe it's a malfunction.

Are the electric seats any better? That would be elegance model in my country.

Seat comfort is a very personal thing, some people find them perfect for their shape, others don't.

I usually find when I change vehicles it can take several thousands miles before I find the ideal seating position for me, I have electric seats in my Elegance so it's stored in the memory.

Try to find one with electric seats - it's the only way you'll know if it's the better option for you or not.

I find the lumbar support in our 2010 Elegance odd, exactly as you describe it. It is the wrong shape for my back in that its too small and sharp. I wonder if anyone has taken their seats apart and had a look.... perhaps replaced the part with some firm foam of a different shape....

BTW which country are you in? There might be someone on here in your area so you could try out an electric chair, I mean seat.

The basic models don't have lumbar support but the seat back is comfortable - might be worth trying an S model

Personally I find the seat base between the side bolsters a little narrow for my ample frame. Saying that I never suffer from back ache (which is usually a major issue for me)

As has already been mentioned seat comfort is a personal thing

I find the electric lumber support on our Elegance to be great, with an excellent range of adjustment.

Personal view once again, of course.
