Heated Seat Pads?

Featured Replies

Im booking the car into seat surgeons in the coming month, and was toying with the idea of ordering up the heated seat pads and switches from skoda and getting them wired up by a qualified spark.

Can anyone tell me-

-Are there pads in both the 'bum' of the seat and the 'back' of the seat?

-Has anyone else retrofitted heated seats to one?

-And a bit of a long shot, but if so, does anyone know any part numbers?

Thanks:thumbup:

All covered by me already in an old post and hugely expensive!!

I'll see if I can find it.

To answer your questions......

1. Yes, both.

2. Not that I know of.

3. Have a look here:- http://etka.auto2.ru/sk/FAB/2005/225/57/4424068/ & http://etka.auto2.ru/sk/FAB/2005/225/57/4422257/ plus the wiring loom that connects the switches to fusebox/relays then onto the seats.

I don't have permission to view that link!!

Strangely, neither do I at least whilst logged in as a member of this site I can't.

But if I log out and look at it as a visitor I can read it with no problems ..hmmm !

Here's a cut and paste -

Be nice to see some more info on this as it seems to be coming up a lot lately. You would have to be pretty dedicated to do it as the parts are expensive.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if the seats didn't go through the central electronics unit either.

The Fabia uses a Rheostat in the dash and a control unit under the seat -

Right Rheostat - 6Y0 963 564 A JDY £24.55

Left Rheostat - 6Y0 963 563 A JDY £24.55

Control Unit - 6Q0 959 772 £50.43 each (two required)

Backrest Heater Element - 6Y0 963 557 £33.12 each (two required)

Heater Element-Seat - 6Y0 963 555 B £44.65 each (two required)

Looks like the Octy uses a relay setup -

Heater Element Backrest Cover (leather) - 1U0 963 557 B £53.65 each (two required)

Heater Element-Seat Cover (leather) - 1U0 963 555 B £53.65 each (two required)

Control Unit For Heated Seat - 1E0 919 533 £37.69 each (two required)

Control Unit For Heated Seat - 1U0 919 533 £39.22 each (one required)

Relay Plate - 443 937 527 £4.21

Bracket For Connector Housing Left - 4B0 937 545 C £1.08

Bracket For Connector Housing Right - 4B0 937 545 B £1.08

You also need to factor in the cables, plugs and connections if they aren't already in the car.

Interesting - when I asked the dealer about retrofitting seat heaters when the seats in mine were retrimmed, he reckoned the heater elements were integral to the seat assembly. In other words I'd have to buy new seats! Even showed me sections of the parts list which certainly seem to confirm that view. I thought I'd seen naked pictures of seats somewhere on this site (during a retrimming exercise) confirming that view...

As an alternative, someone on here found a shop which sold heating pads that plugged into the ciggie lighter. Think they were from Aldi but I could be wrong. Oh, and don't leave them plugged in over night as the cigi lighter is a permanent live!

Chris

Luckily my wife's Fabia already has heated seats (both now working since I stripped down and repaired the heating element in the drivers seat :D ) but if I was looking to retrofit them & given the cost of the O.E.M parts I'd maybe consider buying an aftermarket kit from the states here:

Thanks for all the tips men, looks like il be going for the aftermarket kits then and maybe get the factory switches and let my mate a bit of a spark whizz tear away. seat surgeons said they'd fit the pads FOC with the retrim if it was straight forward enough, so fingers crossed il get something arranged.

Thanks for the quick answer, cant wait to get the retrim done now :)

You won't be disapointed
