2006 Fabia VRS tdi - **NOW SOLD**

Featured Replies

So the time has come for me to part ways with the Fabia.

Have owned her since September 2013 and have loved it in all that time. However, a new car forces the sale.

The car has a full service history (had to buy a second service book!), with regular brake fluid changes.

The car currently sits on 77278 miles, which is very low for the car's age (had a drive round the block so one up from pic attached!). :biggrin:

  • The timing belt and water pump were changed at 52,842 miles.
  • The car had a Terraclean (engine clean) at 62.983 miles.
  • Comes with two keys (had to buy a second - £150 right there! :o), plus the original manual.

A few modifications;

  • Shark Performance Stage 1 remap (giving approx. 170bhp - driven correctly; no revs over 2000rpm until warm, never driven hard in first or second gears, never hard acceleration in top gear, always cooled after driving).
  • Brand new Koni Sports Kit suspension (Koni shocks, H&R springs), giving a drop of approximately 35mm. Gives a ride similar to standard, if not better.
  • Up-rated Cupra console bushes.
  • Up-rated Meyle drop-links.
  • Up-rated Brembo discs (drilled and grooved) and brake pads. Discs are standard size replacement.
  • Pipercross panel air filter (also have standard one).
  • ''Mufflerectomy'' (even though I don't like that word), done by Top Gear Performance at Doncaster, basically taking away the standard back-box and having a straight-through pipe (with new twin tail pipes). Gives a nice blend of a bit more turbo whistle and a slightly deeper sound, whilst also being very comfortable for normal driving. This in no way affects MOT - never mentioned at test.
  • Whiteline rear anti roll bar.
  • Team Heko wind deflectors.
  • Alpine CDE-W235BT head unit and front speakers professionally fitted (with sound deadening fitted to front door cards). Have since added sound deadening myself (Silent coat) to lots of areas in the rest of the car and she really does run pretty quiet, also helping the stereo sound. *I will give you the original strereo and 6-disc cd changer.
  • Windows professionally tinted - rear wndow and rear passenger windows (fronts standard).
  • Standard 16 inch Spiders professionally powder-coated in ''Shadow chrome'' by The Wheel Specialists at Garforth in Leeds. The wheels are in great condition with no curbing or scuffs. The boots are Pirelli P-Zero Nero's, with plenty of tread left. Also fitted genuine Skoda centre caps.
  • Bosch front Aero wiper blades.

The car has had a couple of things go wrong, but these have been fixed straight away;

  • Rear brake caliper sticking - new caliper fitted.
  • Radiator leaking - new one fitted.
  • Car failed MOT on front passenger door latch not working - eventually fitted another latch and MOT passed.
  • Rear off-side passenger door was banged while open - professionally fixed and sprayed.

The car is in great mechanical order (gearbox, clutch, suspension, steering, brakes, engine) and the only negatives are on the bodywork;

  • The car was nudged slightly a few months ago in traffic so has a dent on the back (near the ''Think Bike'' sticker). This happened at night and I couldn't seen anything significant when it happened so carried on.
  • A couple of scratches/previous owner's poor attempt to mask a chip on the rear bumper
  • Stone chips to the bonnet
  • Paint peeling on the rear spoiler

These really aren't major things and nothing a good body-shop cannot tidy up for not a lot of money. These things were going to get sorted by a friend who is in the trade, but after seeing my new car online, I couldn't refuse the deal so put the money into that instead.

  • The seats have no tears or holes, but do need a good clean as they are grubby looking - anyone who knows the MK1 VRS will know what an awkward colour they are to keep clean. I have just put seat covers over them.
  • Due to how the head-unit fits, you now struggle to use the traction control/heated screen buttons - its never bothered me.

I've tried to be honest about the car and want people to know that if they buy it, they are getting a mechanically sound car, with just a couple of cosmetic niggles.

If looked after, this little thing will last you ages.

It's got a fantastic blend of being great to drive, quick when you need it to be AND still giving back good mpg!

I will miss it greatly.

*If you buy the car and you want them, I will throw in;

  • A tin of VRS Pantone green paint sourced from a professional paint store, so you can finish off the calipers (They just have Hammerite on so far).
  • A set of 15mm spacers for the rear (with extended bolts).

I'm wanting £3300, but will listen to sensible offers.

Thanks for looking and message with any questions.

Gav

Hi,

I'm in Ossett in Wakefield.

Sorry - should have put pics on of that door (rear passenger).

It wasn't the best job in the world by the bloke who did it, the paint is a bit flat compared to the front one. Only the trained eye has an issue with it though....

 Not the best pics but as you can see the car is blocked-in down the drive at the moment!

Gav.
