HELLO! If anyone knows anything about repairing the 7 speed dsg gear box with D blinking on dash. Skoda garage checked out my 60 plate octavia and the mechatronic unit needs replaced(at £1500).Is there any other ways of fixing/replacing/programming etc? Thank you all!

Google is your friend. There are quite a few specialist who can repair and recondition your double clutch gearbox.

Has your DSG (DQ200) had service campaign '34F7' carried out since May 2014 in the UK, 

Synthetic Oil changed to Mineral and software update.   Sticker in spare tyre well, with '34F7' and date if done.

 

Anyway, there was a World Wide recall excluding Europe, somehow not in the World (Global recalls).

Some regions even had Skoda fit new MCU's at the 'Service Campaign'.  But then there were not many possibly faulty cars there.

So no matter if the car / DSG is 7 years old, find out about the Service Campaign, because VW Group were responsible, 

Fundamental Design, Manufacturing, Materials / Fluid / Software failings,  The Rest of World got Warranty Extensions, not Europe though.
