Centre Screen on Sportline?

Featured Replies

Every Sportline I’m seeing on the used car websites seems to have the Centre screen with buttons on it, the older style setup.

Is that what what is standard, or am I only seeing older models?

Yes, that is correct.  the full touchscreen version was only added around may this year, but the innards and functions are the same, just the touchscreen replaces the buttons and the screen itself is  larger.  Whether it is amundsen or columbus on the cars you are looking at I don't know as I am unsure what the standard spec of Eire superbs are and obviously any possible extras.

As roo said above, 8" Bolero (has no sat nav) is the standard infotainment system on the Sportline in Ireland.

I assume it can be upgraded?

I assume you mean on a secondhand car and not a new one. I doubt its an easy job if its even possible, headunit (in glove box), centre screen is different (Nav button), GPS aerial and then it has to be coded to the car AFAIK. The upgrade on a new Sportline is approx. €300 to Amundsen

Did you look at new? Good discounts and 0% APR available

Yep it’s new I’m after. 300 is ok to upgrade. Mad it’s not standard!

Any suggestions what dealers are good for a haggle? :D

That depends if you have a trade in or not, if not configure your car on the Skoda configurator and you can send the spec onto the dealers, with a trade in they will want to see it first. With no trade in you will be doing very good if you get anywhere near 10% off the Irish list price.

My advice is know what you get with the sport line, the brochures and specs are very confusing. Unlike the UK configurator, the Irish one does not list the Sportline as a trim, you have to select ambition spec, engine (available on sport line), choose a colour (that is available on sport line) and the next page the option to add alcantara sport seats (this will bring you to selecting sport line spec). The sport line in Ireland is quite a bit different from the UK spec, the UK spec gets Columbus as standard, 19" Vega's standard but Irish spec gets, front assist, heated front seats, reversing camera.

BTW if you upgrade to Amundsen, it will also add wifi but also select Traffic Sign Recognition (about €80), this is the cheapest way to get the camera that can later be used for lane assist and high beam assist which can be turned on using VCDS at a later date.

I did the Amundsen upgrade - it's a good system, seems much improved on the last version. Used the current one in a Golf around Europe earlier in the year and it didn't put a foot wrong.

I know it's the other end of the country but I got very close on 10% with Galvin's in Bandon. That was a straight sale without a trade in but have found they've beaten anyone else with my last three cars.

I went through carwow and saved £6k off list price on a L&K.  Big variations in the offers received though - some dealers were £2k more expensive than the one I went with.  Plus went back to local dealer (who isn't on carwow) with my best price and they couldn't get close...

I made a very, very stupid mistake and didn't spec the nav on my sportline. I thought it was standard, because it is standard on cheaper style package (in my country). And here upgrade is even cheaper, like 200e. I was ****ed. Good thing,it can be connected to phone and use google maps or some other nav program and display it on head unit.

Here is a picture of mine,my2018 bolero (same as amudsen, just no nav). Resolution is outstanding and it is very responsive.

And i love this new glass design, looks much sleeker than the old one.

Seems they have removed the WIFI only option with the Amundsen from the configurator, that was a zero cost option, have to take the phone box atm which is another €300. Might be a mistake or temporary supply issue, check with the dealer. Phone box is a good option though, no where really to put the phone if using CarPlay or AA (has to be hardwired to the only USB available).

Irish dealers do not have the same margins, when you take equivalent specs and compare list prices, the Irish one is more expensive but the UK does not have the stupid VRT (Vehicle Registration Tax) which makes up thousands of the Irish list price.

Easily happen, Skoda's information in Ireland is very misleading, I had to ask on here is the Irish Sportline had the Columbus or not. The Style version does here and that model is €500 cheaper here too, small bit misleading.
