Retrofit VW RNS OEM reverse camera?

Featured Replies

Wondering if it's possible to retrofit an OEM reversing camera from the VAG group to a Superb 2, considering i'm running a chinese android navigation unit.

I have a generic reverse camera now simply hooked up to the unit's video-in, but i'm not happy with the viewing angles, it's too shallow. It is hooked to 12V so activates only when engaging reverse (at least that's what i think) :)

the OEM camera comes with all necessary cabling btw.

thx!

I'd be surprised if an OEM camera designed for a RNS headunit worked with an aftermarket Chinese unit.

Mostly as OEM cameras output RGB whereas your headunit probably needs composite.

You might have more luck with one of the newer OEM cameras for the MIB headunits as they should be composite. You'll need to check is they are NTSC or PAL though...

so the 2 options would be: 1) a RGB to Composite (CVBS yellow "video-in") adapter OR 2) a composite (CVBS) OEM camera?

how about the Superb 3 OEM cameras, i can't find info on them if they output composite?
