Fabia vRS Service Indicator

Featured Replies

I had my Fabia vRS booked in for its 20k service, was due to drop it off tonight and collect it tomorrow.

Was just on my way to the dealers and got a phonecall to say the curtesy car was not available and the service would have to be canceled.

Wasnt too plaesed as I had left work early to enable me to get there in time and the service had been booked for around 4 weeks.

Iv now been offered a next service in 3 weeks time cus thats the next time a car is available.

The car had just reached 20k miles yesterday so by 3 weeks time will be well over due.

I'v just been out in it tonight and I now get a service indicator showing where the trip computer is, I shows a spanner and the word oil.

What is this indicator for and will I be ok driving for another 3 weeks with the warning on (approx 1k miles)?

My local dealer says between 1 and 1.5k over is acceptable.

I believe dealers will allow a 1k mile margin in terms of warranty, but if the service indicator has just come on, it means the service is due in 1k miles anyway so you should be ok :D

Interestingly, I think you should have the INSP rather than OIL up for a 20k service ... maybe one of the techies can confirm :D

I did explain to the dealer that by them cancelling the service it would put it well over due but they said they was nothing they could do.

The servicing on mine is currently out of step with the standard intervals, I bought it with 5k on it and it got a service and now its done 20k and not been serviced inbetween as the dealer advised against it to get things back inline with standard service intervals.

Hopefully once done everything will beback to normal. I'm not too fussed about the additional miles before the next service. I havnt noticed any thing which needs attention, and the car has been faultless for the 15k iv done in it.

Could you not arrange with them to pick the car up from work and do the job?

Else try another dealer?

My closest dealer I pass everyday on my way to work want an extra

If the flashing oil light gets too much, you could reset it yourself using the odometer reset button (guide on here somewhere) then tell the dealer you want a tenner knocked off for saving them a (small :D) element of their service. ;)

I thought the insp warning came on annually as mine came on exactly 1 year after it was p.d.i./registered , I turned off this warning by pressing in the trip reset button then turning the ignition on and hold button for 10 seconds , it tells you how to do it in the vehicle hand book , not seen the oil warning on though .I know that skoda said leave it to 20k before getting it serviced to get service times back on schedule but I would of definetely had at least an oil and filter change at 10-13k , fresh oil better than dirty oil .:)

Your car now has a defective service history and an invalid warranty.

Do you have the dealer's statement in writing if so you should submit a claim for damages for loss of value - though the courts if necessary. I've negotiated
