Front right brake binding

Featured Replies

I have a 2010 superb and the other day I noticed the front right wheel was squealing at low speed and was also very hot to touch.

I removed the wheel and calliper. There is lots of life left in pads and no unusual wear on disc. I cleaned the calliper and fixed housing of any loose rusting material and brake dust etc.

The rubber boot around the piston is in good condition. Thinking that the piston may be sticking I pushed it back in a few mm and then put everything back as it was.

Have done a few trips since and it's better than it was but the disc is still hotter to touch than the other 3 after a journey.

Is there anything I could have missed to clean or lube or is the piston sticking and I'm going to need a new calliper?

It would probably benefit by having new seals which would mean stripping the callipers down. It is not a difficult job if you have some diy mechanic skills.

If you do replace the seals I presume they would come in a kit with what ever else is serviceable as well.
