Alloy wheel damage

Featured Replies

Hi,

Just wondered if people could give their opinion on my issue.

Bought a Superb a couple of months ago. Not long after buying it noticed that at speed there was vibration coming through the steering wheel. Thought it was just a balancing issue so didn't take it back to the dealer. Took it to my local tyre place at the weekend and it turns out that alloy is actually buckled. No visible damage to the tyre.

Dealer has offered to pay 50% of the cost of a replacement alloy. I'm still a bit miffed as this wasn't of my doing, so I'm still going to be  £180 out of pocket.

Would you say this offer is reasonable? Have argued that if I had done it then there would be damage to the tyre, but they're saying that as I didn't let them know soon enough that's all they're prepared to offer.

Cheers

Welcome, seeing as you never took it back within 30 minutes or even the next day it seems pretty fair.

Can you not buy a single wheel in for Sales like on BRISKODA or Ebay cheaper than you are being offered by the Dealership?

Tried finding one but had no luck. It's a black edition, so the alloys have the black paint, seem to be a wee bit rarer

Find a good alloy wheel repairer and have it straightened. Should cost a lot less than £180.

I'll look at that option, cheers

Search 'Skoda Twister alloy wheel' on eBay. You can get one brand new for £189.99 from Sandicliffe which is a Skoda main dealer. Show this your dealer and suggest they still pay their  £180 and you pay the  £9.99.

I understand a lot of dealers have two prices for alloy wheels - one as an 'accessory' and one as a 'Part' but for exactly the same wheel one is twice the price of the other!
