hi what if you get flatted wheel? the spare wheel has maybe 10kg?or ?

Spare wheel weighs about 15+ kg so is a good wieght saver. And a tin of tyre weld for emergencies weighs less than 1kg.

If you're into weight saving, why not leave the washer bottle empty and run with just a few litres of diesel in the fuel tank too ;)

Chris

If you rag a fabia with too little fuel in the tank, it can go into limp mode squad.

Not sure why this happens, but I was told it's something weird happening with the fuel cooler. Seems to only happen when it's warm weather though.

I've heard this from a couple of people.

There's too many gear changes for the vRS to ever be a great 0-60 car and 1st is useless because you lose traction if you nail it hard :thumbdwn:

The petrol Cupra R Ibiza doesn't do too badly though - try one of those

fit 13" wheels wi 40 series tyres.

take the spare wheel out and the back seats

and change the gearbox for a 5 speed one.

will be great at 0-60 but pish for daily driving

ummm.....

Personally 0-60 in 6.5-7.5 isn't that bad IMO for a economic diesel. I will remove my spare wheel this weekend and see how much difference it makes. Back seats make a BIG difference to every car i've taken them out of, really makes the car rev easier.

15kg is a nice saver though just for the wheel.

Might I also suggest you stop eating McDonalds and get yourself healthy. You'd atleast save 10kg or so :D

Also go to the toilet before you drive, we all know how much a mr whippy can weigh, especially after a curry :)

On a gtech performance meter last night, i pulled 3 sub 7 0-60 times, best at 6.7. Thats remapped, panel filter, and an exhaust. Stripped out too, nowt behind the driver. Ill pop a photo up later. Like everyone says, they are heavy, short geared, and not ideal for 0-60. Mid range is a differant story though.

Out of curiosity, I compared mine to a standard fabia last night too, and there was little difference to the end of second gear, only once in third did i pull away. So, a standard car should be kicking 7 to 60 imo.

Agree.

Disagree.

A standard one at best IMO is around 8 secs. I tried but the best I could manage was around 8.5 seconds, so much quicker now remapped.

I would say though a remap comes in to it's own at 80+ mph, the standard vRS runs out of legs there and struggles to get to 100 quickly. A remapped one literally just pulls.

I tested mine when i fist got it, car fullt intact with a 23 stone passenger, and got consistent 7.5's. May seem a daft question, but do you have your traction control on? As with it on, i was hitting 8 secs plus too.

Did you try starting in second with the traction control off.:)

How does the vRS gearbox compare to the 5-speeder TDi one? I can do 50 in 2nd, 80 in 3rd to the red line, how does that compare?. . . . uhhm, not sure about 4th and 5th ;).

Just wondering if the vRS 6-speeder is 'an extra cog' or if the ratios are different altogether.

I think 1st, 2nd & 3rd are the same. From memory and what you say, it sounds the same. I think 4th, 5th & 6th are just spread out more and 6th saves about 200rpm (maybe less) at 80mph+
