I am in the fortunate position of being able to afford most cars in the sensible money range. I have owned a 07 plate 2.0 Octavia L&K since new, but now want an automatic, a bit more power and space.

 

Therefore, I have been considering a new 5 series BMW 530, an Audi A4 218, with 3.0 Diesel engine, or the 280 Superb DSG 4x4 L&K. I’d welcome any thoughts / comparisons.

 

Do you guys tend to buy from main dealers of go the online route?

You haven't mentioned which 530... going to assume D based on the Audi having the 3.0 diesel. The 5 series is pretty hard to fault in any area other than "not particularly cheap" and the BMW 3.0 diesel is a cracking powerplant. The 280 Superb 4x4 is also very nice but not in the same league as the 5. If your budget stretches far enough for a nice 530D then this is the easy winner of those.
