2018 Voodoo canzo

Featured Replies

Evening folks.

Work have just advertised that they are doing the bike to work scheme so I'm looking for a full sus bike.

After being spoilt using my brothers lapierre I'm looking for something with rear lockout and in budget (£1000) this is all I can find.

Anyone had or know anyone with one that can give an honest review or k ow of a site that does reviews?

I'm not expecting it to be the best but need to know it'll handle the trails ok.

cracking bikes mate for the money, I've got a old style hoodoo with air forks, my friend that I go out over the notts trails, bramcote woods etc. has the new style 27.5 and we both like them and they handle everything well and feel solid, I've dropped mine a few times and there's barely a mark on it.

a chap I know at work has the 29er hard tail not sure what that's called but he's done over 3k miles this year on it and never had an issue.

only thing I cant see on this is what braking system it's running, cable ? hydraulics ?

the equivalent spec'd CUBE you'd be looking at 1500+

It doesn't give much detail on the Halfords site about the brakes tbh, I'll look into it a bit more.

Still undecided and got a few more places to visit and see what deals are about first before I commit.

There's not a great deal out there for the same money with the spec it seems.

What's the difference with this one from Halfords £765  different brakes 2016 model

Few little differences, brakes and no rear lockout which is what I'm wanting but I did look at that.

Its worth looking into your works cycle to work scheme, work out what your monthly savings will be & what the end settlement figure will be. Depending on the scheme it isn't always the best way to buy a bike.

eg. You can sign up to become a British Cycling Fan Member for £22 & then get 10% off any cycling product at Halfords or Chain Reaction Cycles.  Don't forget that Black Friday is on its way & there are also deals to be had over Christmas/New Year.

I struck gold early this year when I bought my MTB, found it discounted at CRC by £300 in the January sale & also got my 10% British Cycling off & also got interest free payments through Paypal, it worked out cheaper than buying it through my trade account.

Hey,

If your still looking at this bike-

So I work at Halfords and built up a canzo for display yesterday. It seems like alot of bike for the money. I've got a 2016 voodoo hoodoo and its held up well with mainly singletrack/trails riding, but have been wanting something with a bit more shock travel, and to move on to a full sus. The new canzo comes with a bolt through air raidon fork, tapered steerer, with black stanchions, rear suntour shock (again all black) which allthough is relatively low spec in comparison to some rockshock/fox etc, are quite a nice setup for a grand. Also the deore 1x11 is a treat. Doesn't come with a dropper post but the frame is compatible with an internal dropper. All the hardware on the frame joints looks pretty good quality. Now the brakes are Clarks hydraulic... On previous bikes I've worked on the Clarks brakes have been shocking, however these 2018 brakes look very similar to Shimano m355 like on my Hoodoo, which are great. Cant say what the performance of these brakes are like as I only rode around the shop floor, but they seem very adequate.

now the frame design is meant to be by Joe Murray from kona, but without testing the bike properly I would be able to say how smooth it is through the rough stuff, but personally as someone wanting a first full sus, moving from hardtail, its on my wish list.

hope that helps :)

Good write up that and cheers for the info.

I ended up going 2nd hand and getting a lapierre as 2nd hand specs where much better for the money this time, although if anyone's looking on the bike to work scheme the 'calibre bossnut v2' from go outdoors gets rave reviews and comes in at a grand.
