Engine loosing water

Featured Replies

Hi have 2013 octavia

2.0 TDI

loosing water coolant  every 500 miles. It has only covered 39k and runs fine. has any body  ever had this problem

Probably faulty water pump, which is very common on early MK3s, especially diesels it seems

As above, Water Pump leaks & failures from 2013-2014 cars are starting to appear quite regularly on here now.

I guess you are out of warrenty now.

If you visit your Skoda dealer you should make sure to mention that you know it is a common fault & ask for some kind of contribution towards the costs.

Many people have recieved 50% or more towards the cost of the repair depending on age & mileage of their car.

A month ago, my water pump failed completely by tearing internal bearings apart and water was gushing out of internal bearing. Taking off the coolant tank cap sees the whole coolant tank drain half minute.

My car is registered September 2013 and had covered 75k miles. I was not successful in getting dealer/SkodaUK to do any good will gestures. Their line was that 4 years 75k is way out of their 3 years 60k warranty, you might have more luck with only 39k on the clock.
