Superb Feels Small, Light, Underpowered.......................

Featured Replies

So... Parked my Superb up at Manchester airport and jetted off for 3 weeks in Florida...

As with any of you who do like a decent motor/engine / change, this time again i had to book a Full Size SUV.

Upon arrival at MCO Orlando Airport, i vetted the options of hire car (Alamo allows you to pick your car of choice from their rows upon rows of cars in certain classes...

This time i was presented with various options like Ford Expeditions, Chevy Tahoes, Nissan, Toyota's etc...

Ended up choosing a Chevy Tahoe LT as it was the best option there, Car had Apple Car play (Android Auto) mirror link, built in Sat Nav, 4g Wifi, lane departure, adaptive cruise with a 6 speed auto box.  Engine wise.. 5.3 litre V8 with active cylinder. (reduced it down to 4 cylinders in slow traffic now and again.) Remote start for the aircon, grey leather (no vented seats this time) , 7 seats, that's about it really...

So, the purpose of this thread.... well when we got back to Manchester and spotted the superb in the meet and greet collection point, it looked SO SMALL ! Got in the car, the doors felt so light and when all sat in the car it felt so small inside compared to the previous 3 weeks.

Engine tone wise, sounds like a little hair dryer... steering so light..... one positive were the brake were good though !!

Driving home the Superb felt a bit like a go kart to a certain degree,  you will be pleased to know though that after a week back in the superb it feels normal again and drives like I remember....

I know we are comparing chalk and cheese here, but the transition back to the Superb was a bit of a shock this time.... never felt like this before when jumping in my previous 5 series...

Few stats... 15mpg ish over 850 miles.. cost around $130 in fuel total....

The Tahoe, felt good to drive, plenty of power once the brick had got to around 30 mph, nice engine sound, love the amount of space inside the car...

Anyhow... few photos below of the typical GM motor...

But, but, but.... Look at it.....

It looks like something from an early Dukes of Hazard episode, fitted out inside by Fisher Price.

I like a bit of substance with my style, but I draw the line at this sort of thing! Jokes apart, always fun to have a change though - as long as it's short term.

The interior of that Chevy makes me puke.

The Americans are welcome to their cars and their President.  Nuff said.

Yeah Is not the best inside.... Its very much fit for purpose and that's all.

However the seats were great and it was nice to drive in a straight line...

Just like Hardly ablesons - good to look at and OK in a straight line

Well you were in the USA and cars there are generally made for very large people.

Same designer as the Kodiaq?

No wonder Vauxhell asked to be sold!  That interior dash is just....just......words fail me!

you thing thats not been spotted is the shark fin for the sat nav... rather than it been at the rear centre of the car... its mounted on the roof directly above the driver !

They are all as bland as each other inside, stuff like Kia's, Toyota's etc are really changing the market out there as their designs are far superior to the GM cars...

The model i had, was around $55,000 new...

I had the option of a Ford Expedition... that car has not changed for years on the outside... it reminds of of a ford escort with the rear light clusters...

That designer has spent too much time watching Star Wars (the Lego version!) as it’s very blocky inside.

Everything is so big in the USA, other than The Donald's hands.

It must be great being able to tow your garage around with you.
