In Car WiFi

Featured Replies

Hi All

I'm looking at Superb Estates as my next company car, and wondered what the Wifi is.

It's a bit unclear in the bumph. Is is an actual WiFi hotspot that passengers can use to browse the web on the move, or is it just a better phone to car connection?

TIA

If you add the data sim card option it's a mobile hotspot, if you don't it connects to an external hotspot and uses it to connect to the skoda connect servers or broadcast it out  over wifi as a relay

Thanks roo.

I get the first bit, but can you explain the second bit for me?

Imagine your explaining it to a right thicko ....

If u don't have a SIM card slot, and no SkodaConnect, like me (cause it wasn't even an option), then the WiFi is useless really.

U can connect ur car to a wifi (mobile hotspot or home). No point though really.

U can create a mobile hotspot inside the car, so ur passengers can wifi connect to it.  No point though if u don't have a SIM as u won't have data connectivity.

If u have a SIM, then instead of hotspotting ur phone, the passengers can remain connected via the car's wifi.

I can connect the car to my home WiFi while it is sat on the drive.

Other than that I haven't discovered a use for it.

I bought a MY2018 Superb Style in India. It has the 8" Amundsen system, and though the manual says Amundsen has WiFi, there is no WiFi hotspot, and neither any menu option for WLAN. Is this something hidden by VCDS programming (assuming manual is correct) ?
