No it isn't. The boot light goes off as soon as the boot is shut. Same with the glovebox light.
Don't believe me? Try it yourself with your phones video camera.

that is good thinking...i was just opening a peek to see if the light was on....but the light cant be seen really until the glove box door was open a bit...so the light was on...

will put the bulb back in and set the surveillance camera

iphones are incorrigible..!!

good call

At least checking the boot light goes off on a hatch or estate is easier than checking that the light goes out in the glove box or  with a fridge.

(some that get a flat battery find it was due to a faulty glove box light switch and the light was staying on.)

which model do you have???

a damn fridge!! my level 3 has only got a cold air vent into the glove box...:crying:

Mine is an estate and I can assure you it goes off about 3mins after the boot is closed because I was fitting extra LED lighting and getting hacked off with having to disconnect it all the time.

I don't think he/she meant the car has a fridge... They meant that its tricky to tell if the light goes out on a fridge or on your glovebox and that the hatch or boot of an estate vehicle will be easier to spot as you will just remove the parcel shelf and close it, looking either through the window at the light or by sitting in the car and looking to see as and when it goes off. Most modern interior lights have a delay to them so they go off after a few mins when the door/hatch etc is closed. Have a look at your interior light next time you jump in. It stays on a while unless you insert and turn the key. It then goes off quicker.

As for a fridge, you can see the light go off if you get close to the door and ALMOST close it, peeking in the gap. You can also, of course, find the little push switch that gets pressed in, near the light its self, and press it to see if its functioning properly. If you have difficulty finding it or if more up-to-date fridges have a different light off system, simply pop your phone on to video, slip it in the fridge OR your glove box for that matter, and close the door. The fridge will go out immediately but the glove box light may just follow the same procedure as the interior or boot lights and stay on a few mins so give it five, and retrieve the phone and play back the footage... Simples!

i thought the fridge came with the cool white led's...

forget me...its to do with my brain cell...it needs a charge

good point about the household fridge though...it does have a visible switch to check it...

i have noticed that if i close the door unlocked...the interior lights will go off gradually...

to by pass this i will do the clinical test by locking and putting in my phone on video...which is a pretty good idea...and i expect has many uses...if i could get it into my boot light aperture i could do a bit of a view to see if the lost feeder cable is lurking in there somewhere...

i have ordered a set of festoon leds for the interior front and back roof lights and a couple of cree W5W for the map reader spots..

total 5 items...cost me £10 and in 6500K temp...wish i could have gotten 4000K though...but there we go

they are only going to be used for short periods and rarely

the door operated lighting just for getting in and out...i doubt if i will sit with those lights on unless i want to read when mrscrow does her shopping and i read war and peace again as i wait..;)

went for white though...any of the colour ones didnt seem appropriate...

cheers

Just a thought, can you slip the mobile camera inside the whole where the light came out? It might be too wide but if it fits, you could record or photograph the inside of the aperture to see if the wire is visible. You might need the flash or torch on, too. If I am honest, I think the phone may be just too wide but worth a try and if so, film UP as well as down, don't assume gravity has let the wire drop as it may have curled/flexed upwards or to one side, for that matter. The next stage is to remove the shelf, interior carpet etc and loosen off the side panel so as to get a good look behind there.

You can see where the loom continues for the light running along the top, the dangling wire is a 12v cigarette point, this is on my estate

I took the photo during a sound deadening/isolating project.  There is lots of cheap oem crap loft insulation foam around the wheel arch which I threw away.

that is a fine job you are doing....

my 1.4Tdi could do with a bit of insulation between me and it...somedays its quiet, on others it isnt...could be my hearing aids as well..

i think panel vibration is something which needs good attention...so many frequencies on so many different sized freezones

most cars i owned had a bit of thin sticky material in the middle of each panel...looked like tar paper

one advantage of the insulation you are using i suspect to keep the load area warm..ish

do you have dogs?

cheers

That wheel hole seems to be quite a regular culprit when it comes to noise. Most peeps who try sound deadening, coat this area to help quieten things. I looked at a sound deadening supplier a while ago, who offers model specific kits but I think its around two hundred quid. They do lining for the boot and wheel hole, like this picture. A peice for  under the rear seat, under front and rear carpet areas and under the bonnet area. I think it also had a bit for the transmission tunnel and some for the inner doors, for those brave enough to strip them to fit them! If I remember rightly, its something like a 16 peice kit and they also fit if you are local enough to leave the car there for the day. Not sure of the fitment cost, though!

Yes I know the company you mean, this was a different company and I used sound deadening alloy sheets followed by isolation foam rolls to cut back the road noise, I did the same on the doors and the bonnet and it made quite a difference, it’s hard work though.  I will do a write up when I get the time along with a discount code.

Yeah, tho ones I saw were made to fit. Took away a lot of the labour but probably doubled the cost!

Yes, 2 beagles.  They have Variocages and the Fabia combi just fits them if required but easily gets in a parking space at work, it’s a brilliant car (or will be once I get that caster bushing on it).

no they aren't related, but everyone asks that same question.  The eldest is Shackleton and he is 2, the younger one is Lancaster and he is 4mths.  They're lovely dogs, but you have to work hard with beagles because they are a hound and want to do their own thing so they will constantly push your boundaries; it's a bit like having a child with ADHD
