Wire from boot to fusebox

Featured Replies

Does anyone have any diagrams showing a suitable route to run a dashcam power cable from the top of the hatch to the fusebox. I'd read somewhere that is was best to avoid going through the headlining as it interfered with the DAB signal.

Mine is round the edge of the headlining, then down the passengers front pillar and into the fuse box via a Power Commander.  I was a little worried about DAB antenna interference, but nothing so far and I've had the car for two and a half years.

How easy is this to do as I too want to wire in a rear facing camera?

Be interested to know what cameras you've got?

I have 2 Anker Roav C1 Pro's, front wired already, still to do the rear

On my Scout, I have a Blackvue DR650GW-2CH.  One camera mounted just behind the rearview mirror (so it's out of the way and out of my line of vision), the second is actually mounted at the top of the tailgate.

I'm not one for complex setups, although when I initially started the installation (all done by myself at the side of the street), I wanted to push the rearview camera power/signal lead up inside the headlining all the way to the front.  After several attempts with various things from welding wire to 30A electrical cable, I gave up and just peeled back the trim on the headlining and fed the lead along the edge.  It was rather simple to do, so I had doubts as to its longevity, but that's over two years it's been there and no problems.  I did put a ferrite bead on the cable from the rear camera as it goes in to the headlining just in case I had problems with the DAB aerial, but I can honestly say I haven't noticed any problems and I use DAB 90% of the time I'm in the car.

The front camera leads are once again fed into the headlining and then down the passengers front door pillar to a Power Commander located in the space beside the door hinge (there's tons of space in there!) and from there to a piggyback fuse in the fusebox behind the passengers cubbyhole.  (I think I used fuse No. 42, but it's been so long I can't remember 100%).

I like the Blackvue as it doesn't have a screen to advertise its presence and it's a nice discreet installation.  I did make a strain relief loop so there would be minimal stress on the cable when I open and close the tailgate - that was just a couple of self adhesive cable clamps.

If anyone is interested, I can probably take some photographs.

Exactly the set up and way I'm thinking of doing it when I get 245 next year. If you wouldn't mind sending me some pics of route possibly location of rear?

Yes please?

OK - it'll be the weekend before I can do this though.

Did you take off the c pillar and route the wire through the existing tube that routes cables to the boot lid?
