The battery on my 2007 1.9 tdi Octavia was showing 12.1 volts fully charged, so I bought a Lion 096 battery, £63 with 3 year warranty from ECP. The previous battery was smaller, with far fewer cold cranking amps and had been on since I bought the car 6.5 years ago. I can't believe the difference the new battery makes. I believe the original battery was under powered, and that it has been deteriorating for a long time. My car has never started as quickly as it does now, it is instant. Hopefully, with my winter tyres on, I am now ready for anything, touch wood, and have greater peace of mind. The battery fitted straight in btw

The 096 battery is listed as the standard battery for many Diesel engined cars yet Skoda never seemed to have fitted it as standard despite it being a direct replacement.
