I know the roads were empty but by heck, these 245's can be thirsty

The roads had been gritted therefore, I had traction issues !

those are V8 figures... have you had an engine swap?

You haven't got a leaky fuel tank, have you? George was well known for dribbling a lot.

what does dyno says?

JKM of Portsmouth did the only dyno I've had done otherwise known as the heartbreak rollers as they are accurate instead of inflated like owners egos.

I was running Tesco Momentum fuel & V1 software, the graph is below, red lines without box, blue with. Small difference I thought but, then it drives so much better.

I have since moved to V Power fuel, got V1.3 software (lots more boost) & installed a Pedalbox plus & yet again much improved performance.

Thinking of a CAI system next but, I've gotta workout whats going on, on V1 software the torque steer came in around 4-1/4k lasting 5 or 600 revs. V1.3 software & the torque steer isn't there till later between 5 & 5-1/2k

Need to get over to some local tuners I like & figure out what gonna work best

Is that 'small' difference an extra 40 Bhp and 50 Ft/lb? If so that's good. Cold weather and urban driving wouldn't do your mpg much good either, although it looks your avg spd of 55 looks like there wasn't a lot in your way .

Saw a coupla trucks going the other way which means dropping the main beams, doesn't help your confidence when travelling fast

Sorry, how fast were you travelling, the miles covered in the time taken looks like sitting not moving lots while warming up.

Leave your car sitting ticking over for 10 minutes today and the Average MPG might show as 11 mpg.

It warms up on the move till oil temp hits 70 deg C then Sports mode driving can take over on the interesting/twisty bits.

Its on a PCP so I have only a little mechanical sympathy for it, ticking over on the drive isn't particularly appreciated by the wife & neighbours either at 5am !

So just a low MPG showing not showing that it used that much fuel really, or that it was from driving quickly or cold weather.

These interesting twisty bits are not excessive fuel using though are they unless you use 2nd gear all the time,

we know you have a private road and this tuning box allows corners to be entered and exited and amazing speeds in all weather conditions.

Average was still 55 mph.

Here's me thinking this was going to be a thread about car football a la Top Gear :mmm:

Nicely done :)

That's quite a low figure compared to what dtuk say the box will make (320bhp).

How does it drive with it fitted.

DTUK is a guesstimate from an Audi S1 with about 25k on the clock, can't comment on which set of rollers were used either. The rollers @ DKM portsmouth where my dyno was done are very accurate hence, they call them the " heartbreak rollers" a pre fl vrs230 with a full Revo stage 1 remap running V power only made 304 so, for tuningbox to only be 15 behind I was happy with. We've since increased the boost & changed to V power so, it could make an honest 300bhp, dunno, don't care, love the way it drives & at the end of the day thats what matters to me.

Drivewise its great, plenty of torque in the mid range revs & loads of power higher up the rev range, 5 or 600 revs of torque steer around the 5k mark but, drive straight through that & its nice & quick.

However, the E diff completely deals with the torque steer through the twists, FWD means you ain't gonna get the full power down from a standing start but, in-gear acceleration is very impressive

Or in short, a lot to like

Sweet.

Excellent review. Thanks for that.

EVO stage 1 quote for my 220 was 305-310 Bhp, The 220-245 all run the same turbo, so from my understanding unless you upgrade the necessary parts, then stage 1 with standard parts 'only' gives you 280-300-ish Bhp. Mk1 GTI was 115 Bhp I think! All subjective as you rightly point out, using it safely and getting the power down is part of the equation.

It seems to prefer the denser/colder air which was 1deg C for the original photo, yesterday morning was 9deg C & it done the same figures burning a little more fuel

It was announced that World atmosphere co2 levels have accelerated with the latest readings of over 405 ppm.

Coincidence??....I think not!
