ASZ Replacement EGR Valve

Featured Replies

I would like to replace my EGR valve as its starting to leak quite abit of oil.

What recommendations are there for a good quality part?

Local motor factors recommend a Cambiare EGR valve as a good quality replacement.

Thanks

That oil is purely a bi product of boost. Is it around pipe fitting or 3 bolt flange? If around flange you can buy a new seal :)

I've got a secondhand one you could have for next to nothing. Bought it from someone on here as a spare for my boss, but he's sold the car in question now so it's just taking up space.

Sounds like it needs a damn good clean and new seals / O rings.

Do you know how many miles it has done?

It’s leaking from the small vent hole in the middle which I though indicated that the diaphragm has failed within?

Its the original valve and has done over 100k now so dread to think what it is like inside.

I don't think this is necessarily the case, I think it probably just means that the seal between the stem of the EGR valve and the housing has degraded.  If the diaphragm fails I think it would create a vacuum leak that would flag up various faults.

I don't have any history about the used one I have, but I think it has been cleaned up.

sound advice    the "tuppeny" oil seal is all but immposible to replace,  if you have an EDC15(early model year) management you could get away with a "Wingnut stealth " mod   on the old one DON'T be tempted to block those small holes up    just creates problems

How would I know if I have the EDC15 model? I have the long ratio gearbox on an 2004 car.

What is the wing nut stealth mod?

you would have to look at the label on the computer   I think '04 was the year  when they changed to '16  so could be either    for the mod take a look on Fred's tdi (usa)   and search for wingnut  plenty of info on there
