Cruise control.

Featured Replies

Here’s 1 for you lovely lot. While go to hul on Monday I had the cruise control on. It was active on the a1.

For some reason it switched its self off  for no reason.

Any one got any ideas at all what caused it?

Do you have ACC?

If you do then it was most likely crud on the radar sensor in the front bumper.

No idea what causes it, i think it was a known issue back a few years ago (not on ACC) - my vRS did it a few times on long runs, but in recent times hasn't been a problem though, not sure if a firmware update would affect this.

There are a couple things which will cancel cruise control without a warning...

Brake pedal input or the on/off/cancel switch on the stalk.

Other things, like a fault without something should give you a message "cruise control unavailable".

e.g. Crud on the ACC sensor will give you a warning message in hte maxidot & a loud beep "ACC radar blocked".

There is the also the possibility that it could be a software issue.

If it happens often then you could ask your dealer but from experience getting them to try a firmware update is very difficult.

On most cars  the cause is 99% issue with pedal (clutch, brake) or gearbox switch. Often is enough a bit of a contact spray, but sometimes a replacement is needed. Has Hill Holder been affected too? If yes, then it is a 100% pedal switch, most likely clutch pedal.

I don't think it is a software issue. Makes no sense to me.

Cheers guys. Haven’t used it since last week.

It used to happen on my mk2 infrequently, ignition key off and back on again would fix it.

Could not replicate on demand so saw little point in going to the dealer.

No issues with mk3 at all.

A hired Kia Ceed did it to me a couple of months ago and it took several 'reboot' to get it going again.

...wash your car! :tongueout:

low battery charge - sometimes with stop start error shortly after, about twice maybe 3 times a  a month, doing about 1k a week mainly motorway

dealers deny any issue - no errors and cant be replicated so it does not exist as a problem

I believe this is a known issue, my 2014 mk3  vRS Tdi randomly dropped out of cruise for no reason. Dealer did a software update and it’s only done it once in thousands of cruise miles since.
