Current Android Auto users?

Featured Replies

Looking at the possibility of jumping from Apple to Google and wondered how people are getting on with the latest version of Android Auto in their Fabias?

Also keen to know how reliable people find the Google voice commands to be. I’ve found that Siri has grown progressively worse over recent months.

thanks

I've been using it on and off for the past 6 months since getting my Fabia, works great with google maps + Waze. Music I've tried through Tunein Radio, Spotify which work fine although it tries to get me to use Google play music. Usually if I just want music I tend to stick to Bluetooth audio.

I can only say good things about the voice commands and recognition, much better then when used on my phone by itself. So far no major issues, any questions, feel free to ask. Hope this helps!

I quite like Android Auto and the voice commands seem reasonably effective (the car is equipped with voice control) although a previous Fabia without voice control could handle AA just as well. I like the Waze interface and the principle behind Waze but have not found the voice control as good as Google Maps itself.

One thing I do like about Android Auto is that it is always up to date - unlike the satnav in my other cars. I would have no hesitation in recommending Android Auto (providing the phone supports it - my daughter's Huwei P9 lite doesn't support AA and that can be a pain - so check that your phone, or the phone you are thinking about, supports AA before you take the plunge.

I concur with the comments above. Android Auto works fine, and voice recognition / control is good.

AA does have a few quirks though - there are a limited number of apps that work with it, and the media players in particular are a bit hit and miss. I recommend either Rocket Player or VLC (both free from the Google Play Store), as they support browsing for media by folder.

Also AA is occasionally a bit reluctant to run  - I sometimes have to re-boot my phone before the audio system will recognise it (to be fair this may be the phone's fault, not the Fabio's!).

I use it but it is a faff for short journeys as it can take a minute or so to get it to work. In general I just prefer the simple Bluetooth system but I do use it when I a sat nav is handy. I just find it doesn't always recognise it straight away which can mean a delay to the journey.

I'm using a Samsung S7 Edge with AA and so far it hasn't let me down.

I've subscribed to Google play music and it plays whatever I can think of or remember via voice control.

Google maps are fine for me and automatically goes to GPS when in a bad signal area.

I can text messages using voice control too.

All in all it currently suits me fine and I fully recommend it.

It's fantastic. I have fallen in love with Android Auto and won't be getting a car without it. I've used it with 3 phones- a Samsung S7 Edge, OnePlus 3T, and now a OnePlus 5T. The OnePlus phones have worked better (smoother) than the S7, but the Samsung was still decent. Voice control via a long-press on the steering wheel button works well most of the time, but does need decent signal to work completely.

If it doesn't connect straight though, tapping the 'Devices' button on the Bolero screen and then selecting your phone normally sorts it out.
