ASure Android Headunit

Featured Replies

Due to a change in vehicle very shortly I have for sale my A Sure Android Headunit.

It is essentially an android tablet with a cd/dvd drive. Decent screen, fast enough, has GPS, Bluetooth, dvd/cd.

I use it mainly for Spotify as because it is essentially a tablet Spotify free works just like it does on a tablet so you can select songs etc (on mobile free you only get 5 skips an hour and everything is on random!)

It has red illumination, but I don't notice it. It also works with the cars heating controls (shows up temp etc when you use the dials) and also the parking sensors.

It also has the DAB antenna included although I've never fitted it.

I'm looking for £130 ONO. Photos to follow.

what model is it? A quick google suggests there are 6", 7.1" & 8" versions.

Hmmm!

im officially confused!

i was beginning to think that this would not be compatible with my car (2008 Octavia Scout, with MFSW and maxi dot) but I see you originally had a Bolero, which is what mine has, so it would suggest it may be compatible.

ive sent a question to A sure on ebay to ask

Did you ever solve the dodgy FM reception?

whats the sat nav like?

As far as I am aware it will fit as it's the same size as the Columbus nav system fitted to various VAG cars. You will need a new facia trim though. I paid about £20 from Skoda.

The FM reception is hit and miss, I rarely use it though as I use the RadioX app or BBC iPlayer radio app most of the time when not using Spotify. It does have DAB, just never installed the aeriel.

The nav it comes with is ok, but I tend to use Google maps or my TomTom (mainly for the live traffic)

Sorry

when I said compatible, I meant the electronics not that it would physically fit.

a lot of the blurb on A sures ebay shop suggests its only compatible with 2009 onwards cars, hence why I asked them the question.

I'll let you know when I know

If it helps, I have just fitted an Asure unit into my mk 1 vrs. For the money (it was a slightly older model running Windows CE) I can't fault it. GPS is accurate, albeit a bit clunky - it uses iGo Primo, which when I got the update files from Asure, were actually Tom Tom based maps. The radio reception is a bit hit and miss, although I tend to stick with USB based stuff anyway (3 USB inputs, plus an SD card slot for upto 32gb). On their Facebook page Asure do say that some modern cars have a built in amplifier in the factory radio, and you may need to purchase an external aerial amp to improve things.

Map updates can be obtained for free from naviextras.com - find the unit, download and extract files, then upload to the SD card (unless it's wifi enabled in which case it will update itself I expect)

Thanks Octyal

thats most informative, my only actual concerns are whether it is compatible with my steering wheel controls, maxidot dashboard display and reversing sensors, which on the current head unit show a little schematic

It does state that the one I have is compatible with controls on the SW (I know it's a different unit) so I would imagine it is. You may have to wait for a reply from customer services as they are in China, although they are very helpful. Responded within 24 hours for my request for a map update (which are free every 6 months) and a PDF of the user manual.

Do you have any pictures of the rear connections please?  Is it CanBus connections only or does it also have ISO plugs?
