Wiper Blades

Featured Replies

Anyone got the Bosch model numbers to suit the Kodiaq wiper blades?

I love Bosch.

Today, my local dealer confirmed that the Kodiaq uses different blades from the Superb.

I can’t find any online references for Kodiaq wiper blades. Local Halfrauds have no reference either.

To be fair to dealer chap, he didn’t just say “no - the part numbers are different”. He dug out both a Superb and Kodiaq wiper blade to show that the Kodiaq one is longer. But he admitted that sometimes the same item is kept under different part numbers (a shooting offence in material management terms I think).

Anyway - has anyone found Kodiaq wiper blades outside dealer OEM parts? Preferably Bosch as they work well for me.

Almost all genuine Skoda wiper blades are sourced from Bosch, just with more expensive Skoda branded boxes!

Very few of the usual wiper blade suppliers have anything other that the rear wiper blade listed for the Kodiaq.

Are there are any Kodiaq owners willing to measure their front wiper blade lengths?

And also check the fitment. This is the usual Skoda fitment (QS6 'Push Button')...

I did find this:

- Blade Type: Skoda Kodiaq Exact Fit Aero Blade / Side 1
- Blade Length (cm): 53
- Blade Length (Inch): 21

- Blade Type: Skoda Kodiaq Exact Fit Aero Blade / Side 2
- Blade Length (cm): 60
- Blade Length (Inch): 24

They are indeed different to the Superb (600mm & 450mm = Bosch A188S).

If this information is accurate then I think the reason that there isn't a Bosch set recommended yet is that there isn't a twin pack containing a 600mm (24") and 5300mm (21") with the Skoda fitment available?

I bought a Kodiaq back in October. The wiper blades are useless.  They do not clear the screen.

Havent been back to the dealer as I don’t want a replacement set which is just as bad!

Would be interested when Bosch produce a front windscreen set.

That's very odd.  I got mine in early November, and the blades continue to clear perfectly.

I'm wondering if it's the screen that is the problem - you didn't by any chance have the new car treated with Autoglym Lifeshine or similar?  (That includes a treatment for the glass, which must NOT be applied to the windscreen.  If some nerd did apply it there ... you get exactly what you describe!)

Or have you taken the car through a hand/auto carwash, where they've wrongly used spray wax on the screen - same result.

If the blades look still to have the correct edges (no little gaps or wobbles), then I'd try cleaning both the blades and the glass with something like CIF cream cleaner (household cleaner, from supermarket), and wipe, then hose, that off generously afterwards.  [I made the mistake of applying the Lifeshine treatment to the rear window, when I did mine.  Blade became useless.  Ten minutes with the CIF, in the swept area, brought everything back to perfection :) ]

Many thanks for the advice. I did try some Autoglym window polish but it had little effect.

Did any of you remember to measure the length of each wiper blade? That will allow us to identify the correct Bosch replacements.

Longer than a Superb :)

aoproximately

ps - my front LH blade sometimes leaves a badly wiped area on the upper few inches. It’s losing contact with the screen due to insufficient spring in the blade.

You're a hero, thanks muchly!

I'll go do some digging to see what I can find from Bosch.

All other Skoda's use this type of fitment so I'll assume the Kodiaq does too.

I too find that the LHS wiper does not clear approx. 3 inches of the windscreen. By the way, how much screen wash does yours guzzle? I am topping it up nearly every week (at least a litre), must be due to the headlamp washer.

I don’t do too many miles each week and am fairly mean with the screen wash, without being silly, so I just wait for the warning light to come on unless I’m heading on a “longer” trip when I will top up before I go.

Just common sense really.

Ok BoxerBoy, just out of interest I topped up yesterday, 1-11/2 litres in a couple of weeks.

I seem to fill mine up on an all too frequent basis as well. At least the warning light comes on early and you've got plenty of 'lazy' time before you really have to fill up. :D

Did you manage to find the part numbers?

I've just been searching and best I can find is some repro parts. I'm surprised that Bosch doesn't have a model search page.

Anyway, I desperately need a new pair and would rather not line the pockets of the dealers unnecessarily!

You're better off paying dealer prices for now, it doesn't appear that Bosch do an Aerotwin twin pack containing both a 630mm (25") and a 530mm (21") blade.

You can buy the Bosch blades separately but this often works out quite expensive.

Bosch Aerotwin 530mm / 21" = AP21U

Bosch Aerotwin 630mm / 25" = AP25U

Thanks for the info. It seems that the driver's side blade is the difficult one to buy. So, perhaps against my better judgement, I bought a pair of rubber refills from Amazon for £8 and will see how they work.

Have you measured the length of the blades, are we sure they're 630mm (25") and 530mm (21")?

I did take the tape measure out to mine to check.

Yes. Laid them on the table 2 minutes ago.

At least, mine are. Can’t vouch for anyone else’s wiper blades :)

The passenger side wiper is blooming annoying, just travelled 110 miles on fast A  and motorways. The blade does not clear the upper arc (approx. 4 inches) it is not the blade (the car is fairly new), I thought it was the jet not getting high enough but did an experiment and it is simply the wiper blade not doing a good enough job. Any ideas?

Mine’s similar but probably not so bad. It will clear anything on the screen, but when there’s crud flown up from lorries etc and I don’t use screen wash the top 2 or 3 inch on that side is murky.

Yes Bignij

It seems to smear the top of the windscreen in an arc, is the wiper sufficiently sprung to remain in contact?

I’m going out shortly, I’ll have a play. It’s fine in rain and snow, it’s when stuff is thrown up from the road or other vehicles.
