Exactly 2 years in and with a long trip to Europe on the cards I popped my new Gold Plated Dealer blades on yesterday. 20,000 miles done.

A very wet day. So they were much appreciated. The "not quite worn out" original blades are in the boot for possible future use.

Don't ya just love New Blades?

Lucky you.

We have so much chlorides on roads during wintertime so instead of 1 set per 2 years we comsume 2 sets per 1 year.

Last night a wee vandal helped himself (or maybe herself) to my rear wiper blade.

For some bizarre reason, the eedjit wrenched the whole arm up in an attempt to pull it off. Numpty. I hope they caught a few scratches.

Arm pulled out of pivot. Bits of plastic broken. Only retained by the bent spring. Bastid.

I decided to remove the arm completely to avoid inadvertent screen scratching in the absence of a blade. It’s a long way home.

’twas reluctant to come off the tapered spline. Not a touch of grease. Beware.

Thankfully, the scrote didn’t lift my brand new front blades too.

Probably your UK number plate and a warm German welcome. Think I will avoid a European road trip with current feelings running so high.

Strangely, the factory fitted drivers side blade is 630mm. Bosch do warn that their blade is shorter than the original.

Anyone tried an AP26U / 650mm blade? based on the pics a 650mm will fit across the glass but will it be ok at the top?

I'm just thinking if the AP25U is difficult to get hold of/odd size and you don't want to go smaller

It's more the proximity of the longer blade to the passenger side blade when they're in the rest position. It you look you'll notice that they're already pretty close.

Saying that though, the Bosch AP25U is shorter than the factory standard blade anyway, so trying the AP26U could be worth it...

It will be 1cm closer. I think there's room :)

I think you should be the guinea pig and give it a try!

My Kodiaq hasn't even been built yet! :D Next week apparently!

I made the mistake of coating the rear window of my brand new Kodiaq with rain rain-x, it juddered like crazy! I used some white vinegar and water to remove it all (and any residue on the blade) and it’s operating correctly now but I thought I may be getting a replacement blade.

Also the windows appeared to be coated on the outside with some brown residue which came off with the Rain-X? Needless to say I’ve not done the windscreen.

I normally change the wipers every spring anyhow after they’ve had a good icing.

@BoxerBoy Sorry to see some lowlife damaged your wiper, looks like vandalism rather than theft. I’ve had this before years ago in a car park where they went down a line of cars and bent the wipers.

Could be jealousy though.

So my wee German vandal cost me a new rear wiper arm. £34 at my nearest dealer.

Part number 5G9-955-707

Fitted it with the old original blade which was hiding in the boot.

Still waiting for my new blade in the post. £6.49 from a EE bay supplier.

Almost bought from Euro Car bits, but thankfully compared online after seeing ECP wanted around £16.

For anyone who needs wiper blades and has ordered the Bosch AP21U and AP24U then of the four adaptors provided in each box, you need adaptor number 4...

What was the final verdict on wiper blades? Are the 600mm blades an ok replacement for the OEM 630mm, or am I better off buying directly from Skoda?

Yes, they're fine, I have them fitted and not noticed any difference compared to the slightly longer factory fitted version (630mm > 610mm).

The one to try is AP26U (660mm), 30mm longer than factory fitted. The interference with the passenger side blade should be fine, but as of now, it is untested.

Will try Bosch Aerotwin Plus 65 + 53 cm next week. Seems to be pretty tight between two baldes when in resting position.

Edited by linni

Tested.

Bosch Aerotwin Plus AP26U

Bosch Aerotwin Plus AP21U

Bosch Rear A331H

First one is 65 cm blade, fits perfectly.

Last one is rear blade, 33 cm / 13"

Great, so the slightly shorter as well as the slightly longer blades both fit!

My wife's running a Polo now and I found that the Bosch A864S twin pack (Polo) would also fit the Kodiaq - so I bought 2 pairs on Amazon.

Cheap as chips this week. Rear one too A331H.

650mm and 450mm

Or 26" and 18" in old money.

I've test fitted them and they sweep OK.  BTW they come ready to fit without the 4 loose adaptors.

I don't mind the passenger (LH) one being shorter as I won't miss the streaky area at the top of the sweep.

Update: still running these Aerotwins.

NB! When buying, make sure they are Aerotwin Plus.

Plus has new rubber compound and coating. Lasts way longer than anything else.

The A864S twin pack is recommended for the Karoq...
