Do we have pedestrian detection?

Featured Replies

Hi, I wondered if the Superbs have this, hopefully will never need it but I've noticed it's not listed anywhere nor is it tested in the Euro N-Cap test for the Superb - so I'm guessing we do not have it.

But does anybody know/believe different?

Mine is an early 2016 L&K if it makes any difference

Hope everyone had a good Christmas and all the best for 2018

@drewellis - I believe that the visual spectrum stereographic pedestrian detection system mark 1 comes as standard on all Superbs! ;)

Sounds reassuring, it's odd though isn't it how its not mentioned in the sales material etc, I'll have to test it on the wife

I am sure many will offer their mothers-in-law if additional testing is needed.

Hah, I'm sure we'll have a queue of test subjects :D

This test includes the Passat which I guess uses the same kit as the Superb...so perhaps this is how it'd perform:

Didn't hop after the Merc took it's leg off apart from that would like to see the results.

To my knowledge Pedestrian Detection is NOT standard. Mine is a MY16 and will need a newer A5 camera in order to activate the function.

Wouldn't the ACC radar detect the pedestrian and activate Emergency Brake Assist?

Probably not, people aren't very reflective to radar signals.  Pedestrian detection is done by the camera but I don't think this function is offered on the Superb yet.  I see it is on the Karoq and it is required for NCAP 2018 so no doubt it'll come soon.
