Karoq test drive.

Featured Replies

Will be getting the keys to a Karoq this weekend for a couple of days subject to it being registered on Friday. Do not know what spec or engine at this stage. Really looking forward to having the car for the w/e.

Had a good look at one in the showroom today, Edition spec with some extras. Very impressed I was.

Well I have been given the choice of either a 1.6 DSG or a 2.0 Manual 4X4, both diesel and I can pick up tomorrow for the weekend.

So which one you going for... its got to be the 2.0 4x4 ?

I'm surprised any dealer would give you a Karoq for a full weekend, especially a week before the official launch!

Picking it up tomorrow afternoon until Monday afternoon and I am going for the 2.0  SE L, 4X4 as the wife does not want an auto and I like my toys.

The reason the dealer, Capitol Skoda, Newport, South Wales is letting me have it is because I am a good customer with a real interest in getting the wife's next car from them and I have had excellent service from them.  I will change my car in three years for the hybrid Superb.

I phoned my dealer yesterday to find out if they have a Karoq I could look at. If the boot isn't long big enough for us we won't bother test driving.  I was told that they cannot even let me see it until the launch on Jan 11.

Welcome.

You are going to have to test drive one.

I have not driven one, or a 1.0TSI Ateca as they never came in DSG,

but i have driven the smaller SEAT Arona 1.0 TSI 115ps DSG and liked it.

I would not want a heavier Karoq 1.0 TSI 115ps though to carry 3 or 4 full sized passengers.

Still looking forward to seeing if i am wrong only driving one how you use it can really tell you .

The game has moved on with 1.0L 3cyl engines. Anyone who dismisses a 1.0L without trying it is missing out.

I drove the 1.0tsi Ateca in Feb last year and was so impressed I was ready to sign the dotted line. Unfortunately the engine wasn't available in the trim I wanted, but if it had I would have been more than happy with the 1.0

The engine won't suit everyone's needs but if you are a budding Lewis Hamilton then buy a vrs Octavia. Or if you're a lifelong member of the caravan club, buy the 4x4 diesel version. And if you're a good practising Catholic then by a 7 seat Kodiaq. For mr average tho, the engine works fanstsically well.

PS you mentioned Ford's little 1.0? It's like comparing chalk and cheese. Ford's implementation of the 3cyl is getting on a bit now. Their engine is designed to operate like a typical petrol - it thrives on high revs - that's why you see some very poor real-world mpg figures for Ford's 3 pot.  VW have designed their engine to work more like a diesel - ie torque is available lower down in the rev range. It means the car drives like a diesel but has all the advantages of a petrol. It's just so refined - a real a cracker of an engine.

It is the 1.0 litre 6 speed that I am looking at for my wife as it would suit her 1-2 and 3-9 mile journeys fine.
