I changed the bluetooth module under the passenger seat (driver seat for you in UK ;-)

The original was: 7P6 035 730 K

The new is: 3C8 035 730 E

 

Problem: I got a permanent error with VCDS:

 

01523 - Microphone for Telephone (R38) 
            011 - Open Circuit

Can you post a full autoscan?

If I recall there is a mic connection on the rns510 as well as the Bluetooth module, could it be reporting the 510 one missing but not needed?

Just I am wondering why NOW the error is not "unknown" and it become Cellular Antenna open circuit...

BTW, there's a windshield mount cellular antenna connected to the bluetooth unit... But I already have the shark fin waiting to be fitted, I could try to connect that and see if the error persists...

I don't really have a clue.. can you tell me something more about this feature?

FIXED cellular antenna open circuit problem!

Disconnected the 5€ windshield antenna they give you with the bluetooth 3c8 unit, connected via fakra cable the shark fin one... error cleared and doesn't pop up again!

 

The microphone open circuit remains...

I did disable the "check mic" feature .. but as I re-enabled it, it immediately popped out.

I did some google research, RNS510 has a passtrough mic function... 

If you have bluetooth, the mic is connected directly to the bluetooth unit under the seat.

If you have RNS510, you can have voice commands, the mic is connected to the rns.

If you haveRNS510 & BLUETOOTH, the mic must be connected to "mic in" on the rns, and the "mic out" from the rns goes to the bluetooth unit.

 

My car had bluetooth, but no navigation (I retrofitted the RNS), So I guess my mic is fed directly into the bluetooth unit, here's why the phone calls work fine.

I assume that voice commands should not work (but I neither even tried, nor I give a da*n), until I connect the microphone directly to the RNS (mic open circuit is showed because no mic is actually connected).

 

I'll do some more research and experiments, if my thinking is right, I'll deactivate the "mic check" function until I remove the rns to do something else, and fix this mic issue at the same time :-)

You're almost certainly correct.

 

You should be able to code the BT module for voice control but you'll only get phone related functionally.
