Skoda won't start

Featured Replies

Hi

Having issues with my Fabia 04.

Car failed to start Monday morning. It has been starting but dieing straight away in the mornings when first setting off for works, plenty of revs solved this.

Monday however failed to start. I have trickle charged the battery. Tried starting tonight, 1 click car died and dashboard lights flicker. Now when I turn the key, nothing.

Any suggestions?

REALLY would help if we knew what engine you have in that '04 Fabia.

It's the HTP 1.2. Does that help?

does it crank?

do you hear a relay click when you turn the key?

Nothing. The dashboard warning lights all flicker for about 10 to 20 seconds then go off

Sounds like it could be the battery. Do the headlights work or anything when the ignition is on?

Does the interior light come on?

Do you have a voltmeter to check the voltage of the battery?

check the earth strap as well

Will check all of the above when I get in after work. No voltmeter

How many km has this car run? (The cam chain is wear on this engines)...

@Taff359v - My first thought is of the battery too.

When I read again, I saw that there is may be battery-starter -problem. The cam chain has other symptoms.

@Taff359v, check this or you may have the same problem again soon:

if the above checks out ok then i would replace the battery as it cant be holding a good charge
