Tinted Windscreen

Featured Replies

I noticed the other day that my Windscreen isn't tinted like the side windows.

I have a heated front screen, is this normal?

I don't think any windscreen can be tinted for legal reasons - at least not to the same extent as the other windows.

The screen is usually tinted the same as the front door windows.

They claim that the heated screen reflects heat (infrared) because of the thin metal film they contain keeping the heat of the sun out and the cabin heat in. It will probably act more as a neutral tint and look different to the side windows

The main purpose of older 30% tinted windscreens was to keep heat out.

I do wish that more cars would adopt a graduated sun band at the top of the screen. I stuck one on the Alhambra and it did help with glare from the sun without interfering with forward vision.

Do modern cars have the graduated band anymore?

It used to be common.
