2014 Octavia 2.0Tdi CR cambelt replacement

Featured Replies

Hello

Apologies if this has already been asked, but i’m Trying to find a definitive answer on when my timing belt etc.. + water pump requires replacement, is it on age or mileage, or whatever comes first?

the vehicle is four years old in March 2018, and I’m on 54,000 miles at moment.

Thank you.

which ever comes first

I would say that is due. 4 years or 50000 miles.

My dealer suggested to me 4 years but it was brought forward by three months because of water pump failure.

According to the Skoda service booklet I have, it shows 210,000 km as the interval on the belt, which is about 130k miles. It doesn't specify a time limit, but 4 year sounds like probably a good idea.

Thanks for the replies.

I lease the vehicle at present, and the 4year agreement is coming to an end at the end of March, and I’m hoping to buy it if the price is right.

I’m not sure the lease company will swallow this so close to the end, but if it’s due, they should.

This will depend on what the dealer says to lease company when they ring up for authorisation??

Anyone had any experience of this type of situation, it’s not a PCP but a lease scheme with maintenance included, through my employer.

Anything else a 4 year old Octy 3 would need? Brake fluid and Haldex done last year.

cheers.

Might be worth a quick look at the brakes, if it's a DSG, has the gearbox oil and filter been changed?

VAG EA288 2.0ltr Diesel engines are 140,000 miles / 5 Year intervals in UK. This is up from 72,000 / 4 Year intervals on previous generation PD and CR diesel engines.

Water pump doesn’t need to be replaced - however, it is the weak link on this engine, and if it lasts to the 5 year point it’s a no brainer to get it replaced at the same time as the belts and pulleys.

It's 5 years or 140k miles niether of which applies to your car

On 2.0 TDI for O3, the cambelt is 5 years or 140k miles I'm told by Skoda UK directly.

The 6-speed wet-clutch DSG oil change is due every 40k miles, must be changed on the dot.

No other special maintenance required, everything else is included within usual servicing.

4 years 50k miles is waaaay too short for a £500 job. If that's the case, I'd rather spend more elsewhere to drive a cam chain engine.
