Fabia VRS trip computer hack - how?

Featured Replies

I've seen someone on ebay selling a hack for the trip computer. Apparently this allows various different information to be displayed e.g. MPH, direct from the car's ECU.

Does anyone know if this is possible and if so, how? - the ebayer says that it easy and doesn't require any tools, just some key basic key presses!

interesting....... but dont know how.

welcome to the site anyhow!

Save your money. It works with models fitted with Climatronic. Details are available on this site for free.

Yep, AFAIK, it's for the Climatronic display rather than the trip computer display and so is not applicable to the Fabia....

Chris

It is applicable to the Fabia if they have sat nav fitted from the factory as they have a different display in the dashboard IIRC.

I am sure there is a picture on the Skoda web site showing the "Maxidot" display (think it's called that!)

Not sure how much the different display cost if you were to buy it from your dealer, my guess would be in excess of £250.

IIRC it's available with SatNav IF you had the option etc etc - so not applicable to most Furby owners (2.5k for the SatNav option is just crazy IMHO)

SatNav is

£1800, very expensive considering you can buy it for £750 IIRC on EBay. I suppose you are also paying for the fancy dashboard display aswell.

IIRC it's 1800 for Sat nav + 130 for Maxi Dot.

Looks cool though!

if you think £1800 is bad , our dealership have just replaced the satnav/cd head unit in a mazda mx5 , and to buy the unit ,are you sitting down , was £4600 ,lucky it was under warranty , thats about a third of what the cars worth .

I was quoted 2500 when I asked at the time (end 04) - either way even at 1k it would have been far too expensive for me.

Based on cost etc I'd go for a separate satnav thing anyway, although so far the use of maps & online planner + printout has saved me a lot of dosh (considering I dont even pay for the printer-related cost ;) )

if you think
SatNav is

Just out of interest (Lummox maybe best to answer this) can the Maxidot display be bought as a part from the Stealers then replaced with cars without the Maxidot display. Because if

IIRC it's driven by the SatNav unit only in the Fabia - if there is a different device that will drive it though I'd be very interested :)

Good question. Would the Furby and Octy be the same? Is this a fairly easy mod?
