retrofit options

Featured Replies

I am picking up a 64 plate Octavia estate 1.6d Se next week and although it has factory fitted cruise control there are a few things it's lacking compared to my outgoing car a 04 Jaguar X type SE. the main thing is the lack of steering wheel controls.

so my question is what are the retrofitting options like on an Octavia 3 I know a lot of things can be changed via coding and I have already made inquiries into getting a few options turned on. but what about things like auto-dimming mirrors and power folding mirrors. I have not checked yet as to if the car is fitted with puddle lights in the mirrors or in the doors themselves. I think it has a bolero head unit fitted it has DAB but no Nav its got reversing sensors but no camera so do the cars come pre-wired for things like the aforementioned extras and would it be a case of either plug and play with some coding or in the case of power folding replacing the whole unit if there is even an option to power fold them.

sorry for the long winded post just curious as to the ease of upgrading to the specifications I want

many thanks in advance Russ

The camera would need to be installed complete with wiring loom and control module. This would then need to be coded in order to work.

I didn't need a control module when I installed my OEM reversing camera into my 14 plate though that was with an Amundsen head unit.

Problem was I had to make the handle cut out larger to take the replace boot handle with camera.

Was a case of swap the boot handle, runs the cables to the front ad then wire them into fuse box, earth and into the back of the headunit in the glovebox. Then some coding with VCDS.

My bad. I was thinking about a retrofit of front parking sensors which requires the parking module.

I have found this for the steering wheel controls upgrade http://www.cars-equipment.com/en/shop/skoda/oem-multifuntion-switches-retrofit-upgrade-for/?tpl=product_detail

this for the camera http://www.cars-equipment.com/en/shop/rear-view-cameras-3/oem-5e5827566e-rvc-rear-view-camera-2/

and this for the auto dimming mirror http://www.cars-equipment.com/en/shop/inner-mirror-12/ad-10d-auto-dimming-inner-mirror-2/

Yep that looks the same as my camera kit that I installed. With yours being a 64 plate you may be lucky and not have to make the cutout larger for the camera. But I did have to on my 14 plate.

oh and you really need to plumb it into the rear washer system. It gets rather dirty and a quick blast on the rear washer cleans it right up.
