Featured Replies

Thinking of lowering my spaceback but not sure to use springs or coilovers, would put it on air suspension but to expensive. Has anyone done this and got any side on photos???

What kind of drop are you looking for?

For pictures look in the A pic of your Rapid Photo threads or Rapid Projects for cars lowered 30 35 40 60 mm on springs, also RiderXXL's coilover car and there is one on air in both areas as well.

I am thinking about 50 to 60mm drop but waiting for some 18inch wheels to come into stock so not 100% yet. Just trying to get some ideas.

For that kind of drop you're probably going to need coilovers.

Was thinking this, I need to do something as she sits to high at the moment.

Talk to @Copey one of the few who has gone that low on here without coilovers. He has found approx 60mm drop plus 8J rims caused rubbing and paint damage. Whereas @RiderXXL went the pricey coilover route and could raise it up when ground clearance was an issue.

If you have wide rims I wouldn’t lower anymore than 25mm. Cost me a fair bit to repair the body. I had 8.5j but 8j would still be too wide. I learned my lesson and now gone 7j rims and H&R lowering springs and it only raised it abit over the previous setup

Copey is your on the rapid struts and do you have a photo yours on the 25mm springs??

I am looking at some bigger wheels 18 x 8.0 for summer use and keeping my 17 x 7.0 for winter. Just can't make my mind up with the colour for the 18's either machined silver or gloss graphite. Veemann vc540's photo from their website.

Does look good. Might have to consider this, is the ride OK? I do mainly motorway and A road driving.

Rides good on 17s been told by @BossFox that 18s wasn’t very good on the rapid

Even though the Rapid ride has improved since BossFox very early car, the sidewall height is tiny on the 18 tyres that fit in the arches - 215/35 - and theres a very small choice of tyres in that size.

I have hit a double height curb with my splitter but got it repaired. Here's a side shot of how she looks at the moment.

ah the 4x4 look ;) I remember it well with my old white one...

Strange how the black wheels look smaller than the silver ones as well?

It's not untill you see 2 photos like that you really notice the difference

I notice the difference when mine are clean and when they’ve not had a wash for a couple of weeks! It is gunning how the colour makes them look bigger...

Just had a quote through for fitting and alignment £327 inc vat. Eibach Coilovers I've  seen at £875.00.

Is this about right?????

  • Author

Is anyone running the eibach coilovers, what are they like for ride comfort????

I can only remember @RiderXXL putting coilovers on and he sold it years ago.

For your coilovers price you could do springs rims and tyres.

Just checked his thread. He fitted KW not Eibach.
