Norwegian trying to keep my 2001 fabia afloat

Featured Replies

Hey guys!

When I was 16-17 years old my big sister and I where gone start learning to drive. My dad had an almost new Volvo V70 at the time, and weren’t to keen on letting us learn to much by mistake with it, so he bought a 2001 Skoda Fabia Classic for us to practice with. I have been driving and maintaining this car for 12-13 years now and practically inherited it. My goal is to keep this car running as long as possible, but lately problems has been building up. After all the car has survived me and both my siblings learning how to drive from scratch, and my not so competent repair attempts. So for that reason I've come here for help and tips.

Currently I’m struggling with:

- Power steering stopped working

- Coolant leaking

- Rear window partially loose (not broken)

Hi Im_IB, welcome to Briskoda.

Which engine does your Fabia have? Can you see the approximate area of the coolant leak? Is the power steering warning light on?

(It might be best to start a new topic about these problems in the Mk1 Fabia sub-section, rather than getting into all these details here).

Hi,

Thanks! The problem is I can't find the leak, and neither could two car mechanics that looked at it. I’m planning on trying to pressurize the system eventually to see if I can find the leak then. But first up is finding out why the power steering isn’t working.

I didn't intend to start a discussion here, just saying hi and some words about what brought me here :) But I’m sure I’ll have to start some threads to get help solving these issues eventually.

Hello IM-IB welcome to the forum .:hi:
