Xenons headlights

Featured Replies

Hi does anyone know where I can buy some  genuine xenons from or does anyone have a pair for sale ?

Contact @hutchysrs50 he does all sorts of designs

Thanks mate, don’t have any genuine xenons left now, but I should have 2 sets in the next week or two. :)

With greatest respect to @hutchysrs50, be aware of new MOT regs being introduced soon. B6B6FB79-6003-457C-9123-33668287348D.thumb.jpeg.0cf28315d0618bac5c2f0434641679a6.jpeg

Of course these regs would not apply to genuine xenons.

Easy, if the tester has an issue with it then whip out the HID bulbs and stick some regular halogen bulbs in.

I would imagine most testers would not know the difference between oem and aftermarket converted lights as they are pretty similar design

I’d like you to spot the difference between oem lights and some of the retrofits.

The conversion applies to halogen lights running xenon bulbs which isn’t aloud.

having hid xenon bulbs in xenon lights is fine.

I completley agree. :D

ive used standard xenon housings and converted standard lights to bi-xenon.

I guarantee nobody would know they were originally halogen headlights converted. Even myself if I seen them fitted in a car wouldn’t recognise my own work!!

If the ride height level sensors have been fitted that is

There are load of bad conversions around. There are two on my journey too/from work that my eye balls know about

You forgot headlight washers :tongueout:

I was kind of presuming they were fitted - as they are very visible "up top"

The ride height sensors are fitted under the car where the MOT tester should be able to see them

Then fit halogens for the test, problem resolved

The argument of whether washers and levelling is necessary is not entirely relevant as some cars came out of factory without either of those, but had the xenon bulbs fitted.

And yet there is still cars with halogen lights driving round with mega bright LED bulbs like nighteyes and cheap eBay HID kits blinding everyone and nobody cares.

these rules are nothing new, just worded differently. *yawn*

dont forget to refit your standard exhausts, EGR valves, DPFs and make sure the warning lights on the dash all light up and go out. :sleepy:

That’s certainly an option, regarding swapping lights/bulbs for MOT.   I was just putting a word of caution out there having been sent that MOT reg update (dated May 18) by a friend just before I ordered parts to retrofit headlights on my car ;)

Relating to washers and self levelling, I asked my MOT man about that, he said along the lines of how they’re only necessary on cars that should be fitted with them as standard after something like 2010, unless you’re in Northern Ireland.
