Warranty work (how to?)

Featured Replies

Hello all

I would like some warranty work done on my car for the following:

Headlight washers sticking open (mostly passenger side) which is irritating

Passenger front door really does creak, I think the door hinge star shaped bolt needs tightening down to the chassis as this hinge "jumps" creating a loud and unpleasant creaking noise

Rear washer is constantly getting blocked up

Basically was wondering how I would go about getting the car in for warranty work?  Would likely take it to GriffinMill in Pontypridd as that's a somewhat local Skoda dealer that has done the servicing previously.

Thanks

BNT

Presuming your car is in warranty, you call up the service desk of the nearest Skoda garage and outline your issues and ask them to book you in and look into it. It doesn't have to be where you got the car from.

They are all potentially issues you could sort yourself. I was told rear washer jet wasn't covered under warranty but it was a fiver to replace so wasn't particularly fussed arguing it. Just clips off and new one clips on.

If you have the correct tool to tighten the door then it's worth a 5 minutes attempt at tightening if you think it's that.

My headlight washer was sticking on the nearside too. I pulled it out, sprayed some silicon spray along the shaft and pulled it in/out a few times before letting it retract itself under the force of its spring. Never stuck since. WD40 silicon spray was about a fiver from halfords. Another 10min job.

Appreciate you have the warranty here, but based on where my dealer is in relation to work/home, it would actually be more of an inconvenience and time consuming to take it in than to fix myself if I thought I could.

With my local dealer you need to pop in or phone to arrange for the car to be booked in to look at it for warranty work. If you explain the issues they will advise whether they think it would be covered under the warranty. You can take it to any dealer regardless of where you bought as long as you have Manufacturers or Approved used warranty.

Take it in and tell them about the faults. Presumably it’s less than three years old (if an extended warranty wasn’t purchased?).

Thanks for the advice all.

Would anyone happen to know what tool I would need to tighten that bolt?  I am unfamiliar with that shape

Video of the problem:

Can’t tell exactly without seeing closer, but it looks like a Spline bit.
