Petrol Blue - Discontinued?

Featured Replies

Just been told from our fleet department that petrol blue has been discontinued - I assume they've been told from the leasing companies.

Not sure how accurate this is, and was frustrated that I couldn't order my first choice colour, but hope the information might be of use.

Must be a very recent change as mine is petrol blue and due to arrive in May as starts being built on 12th.

Shame if it has gone since the colour choices for the Superb are pretty bland and boring in most cases.

You can have any colour you want, as long as it's grey.

Still available on the Configurator.....but we also know how bad that can be too.

A few years ago I ordered a Superb 2 in a blue that was later discontinued.

They gave me a build date which came and went.

The dealer logged in and it seemed that it had been built but not moved from the factory.

After prolonged investigation it transpired that as that paint was no longer available they had just decided not to build my car at all.

As a result I had to take a stock car in a different colour without all the add-ons I had specified, but I did get some compensation.

I am not saying this will happen in your case but is worth keeping an eye on it.

Build date supposed to be 12th so we will see.

"Discontinued" from factory (Skoda)

or from your market (country)?

While Skoda has many colours, here is Oz, we're restricted to shades of grey, and shades of white.  Red and DragonYellow too if we go Sportline.

Apparently VW Australia (who control Skoda Australia operations) reckon we only want boring as **** colours.

Same in the UK it appears.  Mustn’t compete with VW now so we’ll reduce the specs, increase the costs and limit the colours.  Job done.  New Passat anyone?

I have a year to go on the lease and will return to BMW.  It is a real shame that internal trade union politics with VW in Germany have begun to move in an adverse way against Škoda.  Škoda are very successful and make very good cars but the competition at the Superb level is getting tougher.  I loved my Oct 1’s (I had 3] and the Superb 3 is a very capable car, but it could be so much more.  Dealers though just don’t seem to cope as well as they used to - not a Škoda exclusive challenge though that may be!

If I was staying then Petrol Blue was about the only colour I could have lived with.  Velvet Red is OK but the rest are just meh!

Skoda is just a brand just like SEAT, Audi etc. In the UK it is VW Group UK we are dealing with - Skoda is not a separate company. Of course VW group is protecting other brands like VW and Audi. If you buy and Audi and are willing to pay about £2500 extra you can have it in any colour.

For the VW group, all 1.4TSI engines and the 7-speed dry clutch DSG gearbox is made in a Skoda branded factory. When these end up in an Audi they become the 1.4TFSI engine and S-Tronic gearbox :)

Was hoping to order a Petrol Blue superb very soon, so will have to get dealer to double check before ordering. Don't really like other colous so would put me off altogether if it has gone. Seems mimor but you have to live with it for a long time, and don't want to look at a gray/white/black thing on the drive.

Good news for both of us.

Someone (our fleet department or the dealer) got confused between Pacific Blue (discontinued and replaced with Energy Blue) and Petrol Blue. Petrol blue is still available.

I've heard before that petrol/lava may be discontinued.  That's the two nicest colours discontinued - the other being rosso brunello.  Terrible shame as it really makes the car look very classy.  Between internal VAG politics and the push towards predictable resale values on fleets, I think our choices will be even more limited in future

Yep Petrol Blue still ok....and car ordered in that colour today.

No Alcantara available, as has been mentioned elsewhere, full leather FOC.

A shame, because I actually prefer the Alcantara. Oh well.

I had alcantara on a vrs and it did not wear well. I would not have it as a choice and one of the reasons I did not get a Sportline Superb.

Good to know. Can't put heated seats on mine and so that leather is going to get really cold on those 5am starts..
