Hi, 

I have just baught a second hand Fabia with the dance cd/radio/aux but the previous owner has also added a USB port to the car. The seller of the car told me it’s to do with the music system but I can’t work out how this works. I’ve plugged my usb cable into the port and connected to my phone in case it was a battery thing but nothing happened. Some advice would be greatly appreciated!

There was a system to add mp3's to which went into the glovebox and you just plug your device in to that. On the C.D. button, if you press it repeatedly, it goes from AUX to C>D> to AUX and so on... You might just find the cable is connected to that. Usually, the AUX function plays an mp3 etc via the AUX socket, down by the handbrake but it will only have limited functions from the stereo face, such as volume control. Play will still be by the mp3 its-self. If you have the full system added, it may well operate through the stereo head unit.

That isn't a standard fit but is something the previous owner has designed and fitted.  You will need to contact him for details of how it works.  My guess would be that it takes a USB memory stick or maybe a USB HDD.

Try putting a few mp3 files on a memory stick and see if you can get them to play.
