MAF sensor wiring

Featured Replies

I was rushing to replace a broken engine mount on my vrs as it was getting dark. Resolved the mount ok but managed to break something else! Low on power until 3000rpm then suddenly shoots off like normal.

VCDS showing MAF fault code open or short to ground. Was a brand new genuine maf not long ago so don't think thats the issue.

I did forget to disconnect the maf cable when removing airbox so managed to pull on the cable by accident which is probably whats done the damage

Question is where is it most likely to have broken/damaged? took off the plastic outer trunking and is not broken as far as i can see. Guessing it would be on the actual connector somewhere inside thats broken.

Is there anyway i could perhaps test the connections on the plug i.e is there a voltage that should be running down them?

Pin 2, the black/yellow wire should have 12V on it when ignition is on.

thanks @Wino, guessing one of the other 3 will be a ground and then the two remaining are signal wires for the ecu?

The other 3 all go to the ECU, and the colours don't suggest an obvious candidate for an earth.

If you want to continuity-check them it's like this:

maf pin 3 to ecu pin 49

maf pin 4 to ecu pin 30

maf pin 5 to ecu pin 68

Thanks again, will give that a go tomorrow. if i need to continuity test from ecu, are the plugs marked with pin numbers or do i need a diagram?

Im hoping to be able to strip some wire back just behind the connector and then test between wire and terminal as id guess this is most likely place for damage given i pulled the cable by accident.

Just tested the 4 wires this morning, got 12v, good ground, 5 volts and 2 volts which seems to match what should be coming off it according to this site:

Don't have the fault code coming up now which is odd

Could it be a bad maf?
